Why don't Megs have an OTC thread that shows what is equal to the prof. line.
eg:
UQD = M135
NXT v2 = M21
My son works in a body shop but is a painter , but the detailers are getting confused about this as am I and they have actually switched to 3M , I like Megs and wish I knew what was going on with this , relabeling issue. It reminds me of the whole chemical guys situation.
I would hope Megs is better than that. The customer service also has been confusing with their products.
M135 was introduced to MOL as UQD in a bigger form. It is marketed for bulk sales and can't be found at your local stores (Autozone, Kragen, Wal-Mart, etc.). I have never heard that NXT 2.0 is the same as M21. I was a beta tester for NXT 2.0 and I found different qualities with NXT 2.0 vs. M21. Maybe I'm wrong but I think they are different formula's.
A lot of it isn't relabeling, it's marketing to a different group of people.

Not knocking Megs , but just my opinion.
Laugh...wait, so because TWO products can be had in two different lines, marketed to entirely different markets, it is too confusing? so much so that THAT is the reason they switched brands?
That doesn't add up if you ask me.
Additionally, NXt 2.0 and #21 2.0 are not just re-badged, #21 2.0 is formulated differently to be used with a rotary, considering the line it is sold in.
UQD and M135 are arguably the only products that are "the same" but labeled differently.
How is that a problem? You should be ordering entirely from the professional or detailer line if you are in a body shop anyway...right?
As for comparing that to Chemical guys, sorry, but that is even further off from reality. Chemical Guys is caught up in re-BRANDING products to different companies altogether. Meg's simply offers slightly DIFFERENT products catered specifically to each market that the product is intended for. How is that the same at all?
/me thinks it isn't half as confusing as you think.
Simply put... there are different markets and thus different distribution channels to cater to the different markets.
Many enthusiasts that come to this forum are not aware that we are a major supplier to the body shop industry which is a very different market than the Consumer market so this confuses them. Suffice to say Meguiar's started out as a Furniture Polish company and then added automotive polishes to their line as more people transitioned from riding horses to driving cars. However, back then started making automotive polishes it was for the professional side of the industry, not the consumer or enthusiasts side of the industry.
Meguiar's didn't start making products for the enthusiasts side of the industry until 1973 when we launched Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax in both liquid and paste versions.
Cleaner/Wax Paste
Cleaner/Wax Liquid
This means for 70+ years, we only catered to the Professional side of the industry, not car owners, (enthusiasts). The way the market for automotive products worked itself out since the introduction of the automobile to replace horses resulted in two different distribution channels, one that caters to the to cater to the market that they produce products for an in our case its both sides of the market place.
That's where some of the confusion comes into play because so many enthusiasts come to this forum not knowing about our long history as being a supplier to the professional side of the industry and when they see we have both a professional line and a consumer line it confuses them.
We apologize for this be we didn't set up the distribution channels they kind of evolved on their own as man transitioned from riding a horse to driving a car.
Remember, we've really only had the automobile for about a hundred years... compared to human history in complete, that's not a very long time. Before the automobile, we either walked, rode a horse or were pulled in a carriage pulled by a horse or some other 4-legged animal.
We understand your confusion as a lot of people do get confused by the two product lines that cater to 2 very different markets.

NXT 2.0 = Megs 21 , supposed to be the same but one is for hand and machine.
Wrong.
Both products can be used by hand or DA Polisher or a traditional orbital buffer, but only M21 is formulated to be applied using a rotary buffer which generates heat.
Meguiar's doesn't recommend applying a product like M21 with a rotary buffer but we understand that's how the production detailing industry applies waxes, (in some cases), so we have to factor that into how we formulate a product targeted for the professional side of the industry.
Does that make sense?
