  • I'm so lost !

Im trying to get out of the consumer line products and jump into the better quality products for my car. I have a red Audi and i have been using the Gold Class Liquid but have been looking at #7, #21 and #26. I have heard many things about putting #7 or #21 on first, then #26 on after. I dont know if they will go together or if it makes any difference.
I prefer to wax every 3-4weeks with a good wash every week or two.
I have read that the #7 is great for red cars, the #21 lasts a long time and the #26 puts a great last shine on the car.. i cant use all of them, but what might work for me ! ? I have minor swirls like most cars, but nothing crazy.
I just want something that i can apply and keep on for 3-4 weeks and keep an amazing shine on the car.
I am really leaning toward the #7 first, then a coat of #26.. will this make my car look great, for 3-4 weeks with once a week washes ?
    thanks

The key to a great finish is good paint prep. You can use the absolute BEST wax on your car, yet if you don't do good prep work prior to it, it won't really be all that great and won't be what you are looking for.

The aforementioned prep work is really determined by the condition of your paint.

Of course you'll need to wash it and clay it to remove bonded surface contaminants, but what follows next is, as mentioned above, highly dependent upon the condition of the paint.

Pictures of your car would really help in making recommendations.

as stated above prep is key to a great finish. So with that in mind a good wash will be need to ensure all loose particals are removed. Then if the car has been neglected for a little while it would be best to clay the entire car to ensure all bonded particals have been removed. This will give you the smooth you will need to get a great shine. Next, you will want to do a paint cleaner. This will remove light swirls and prep the paint for polishing and waxing. Depending o the condition of the paint you may or may not remove avre marks and scratchs. If you have sever swirls and scratchs you may want to get some 80 speed glaze. Now, with polishing you are looking at #7 I for one use this on most cars i do and love the deep shine i get so if thats what your looking at do a small test spot and check to see if you like what you see. Finally, you will want to aply 2 thine coats of wax to protect the car. I feel very strong about the NXT 2.0. I have used it and hve had nothing but great results.
I personally top that all off with UQD for the looks.

If your working by hand you dont want to let the products dry with the wax as an exception. Work one panel at a time and take your time. Put passion behind your work and the pad!

I would like to see some pics to help you make the right choices on products. I hope some of this helps you out.

Like stated above, prep is the key.

"You never know until you try". The best thing to do, if you have both waxes, is to put them on a side by side test. On one side you would apply two thin coats of #21 and on the other side one coat of #21 followed by one coat of #26. Evaluate and you decide which side looks best to your eyes.

          Whats wrong with NXT?!

          I love NXT...

          -----------------------

Vouch the prep process--- If you do it right, you'll get positive comments from bystanders before you wax.... or comments making fun of how long you've been working on your car. I take both as compliments honestly!

Personally I do the prep work then #7 followed by GC and then a coat of NXT 2.0. My light brown truck looks great. I did a couple of friends cars and the bosses the same way and they all turn out great. Car #1- black, #2- a lighter Ford red, and #3, the bosses car, a dark green.

I don't believe this was asked, but do you have or plan on purchasing tools to help you do the job? Or are you going to do it all by hand?

                Re: I'm so lost !

What I would recommend to start is to clay the entire vehicle and then use a #80 (swirl remover) with a buffer at 1400 RPM. If you don't have a buffer you can use your portercable at setting 5 to apply, but do one section at a time and remove immediately. Then take a #21 (sealer wax) treatment to it, this will last up to 6 months. Finally use your #26 as the final stage doing it in sections, so you don't get the greasy look when you polish. So then every 3-4 weeks when you wax you can just use the #26 to maintain that beautiful shine everyone wants. Then every six months start over from the first step I gave you and your car will be as sexy as can be!

                  Re: I'm so lost !

It wasnt asked.. i am going to do this by hand. I might look into a buffer but im not too sure.
I also wanted to know about claying.. someone said to clay, but when i put my hand on the car i dont feel any bumps, scratches or anything. it feels like glass already.. so does that mean i dont need to or what ?

                    Re: I'm so lost !

To address what vosstire said...i agree with the method, however it is not good to set a definite amount of time for waxing. As already covered, it really depends on so many factors that it is really up to you Ral Audi to determine when the next wax application. Maybe six months is good for you, but maybe isn't. It depends upon your unique circumstances.

                      I HAVE WATER MARKS !!!!!
ok so i left the car for about 4-5days outside under a tree, which i thought would be ok but as i left i realized might not be that great.. now ive invested in a cover! When i got back i couldnt really see the water marks, just some leaves and little marks, then i did my wash and i started finding them all over the hood and rest of the car. I usually do my Gold Class wax after the wash, but the car beaded up really nicely i was amazed because its been almost 3weeks since i last waxed it, and thats a good time for this stuff i hear. ANyway, i decided to go ahead and throw on some #26 just because i have been anxious since i bought it yesterday. The car is still in the garage for now so i know it is shiny but the water marks are of course still there.
I have had the car about 3-4months and never seen water marks like this so its new to me here.
                      what do i do ! ?
