I'd rather use clay + a paint cleaner (like DC1) or something like ColorX or even M80.

I 'think' on the bottle there is a dilution listed for stripping wax. I don't remember what it was.

Edit: Or maybe that was Safe D-greaser. Hmmm

I think that was on Simple Green...

Either way, it is kind of like Dawn... doing it once or twice wouldnt hurt anything, but why would you want to? There is no need to "strip" wax, just give a car a good detail and it takes car of itself.

Ah ha, I'm not going crazy. For Safe D-Greaser it says 20:1 for dewaxing.

              Edit: Added this link.

I would rather do like Murr says. A complete detail. I have better uses for my APC.

Re: APC for on painted surfaces?

                    Also...

Using a paint care product like a paint cleaner or a cleaner/polish to remove any previously applied wax has the benefit of removing any defects while leaving the paint clean and shiny.

Using a degreaser to chemically strip any previously applied wax will then to leave the paint duller than when you started.

We usually try to teach people to move forward in the paint polishing process and that means each step should be making the paint look better and better...

Super Degreaser is listed in the same link at 20:1 for dewaxing also.

Like others have said there are better options. Although I guess it would be the quickest way.

Re: APC for on painted surfaces?

I have found super degreaser to stain some paint finishes. I stay away from using it on paint. And from my understanding is that the use of APC on painted surfaces will over time jepordize the paint resins and cause premature paint failure and oxidation.

                          Opinions?

Yeah, I wouldnt use APC much on paint... I really wouldnt use it ever, but if needed, once wouldnt hurt, a lot probably would.
