  • How did you come up with the #'s?

I can understand those who feel the numbering system of the Meguiars Pro polishes can be very confusing and dont seem to follow a consistant order. As a matter of fact, last night in a chat I had to have my catalog open to the polishes pages to understand which numbers are what.
I also saw #81 Hand Polish is not marked such like the others but rather the 81 is in the part #. If you use these polishes day in and day out I'm sure you memorize them but I think one has to admit there isn't any immediate and apparant, complete order to all of the sequences of the numbers.

Out of pure curiosity, can you say how Meguiars came up with these specifc numbers? How do all of you keep them straight?

Thanks again Mike for all your help and insight.

    Hi Bill,

I'm sure it all started back with the Furniture Line in the early 1900's.

The #Numbers, are just part numbers, reference numbers, that's it, that's all, end of story.

This is no order to them, and contrary to popular misconception, the larger the number doesn't mean the more aggressive the product.

They are just quick reference numbers.

    Example:

The part number for Meguiar's Furniture Cleaner is F-0116

    F Denotes the Furniture Line
    01 Is the product number
    16 Is the container size

Same kind of logic goes for all the other products. As new products and new product lines are added, typically, the next available number is chosen.

I know it can be confusing at first, but after a while, most people figure out that this is no order and that they are just reference numbers. Once you dial in on your favorites, then it becomes less noticeable.
