  • Quick Detailers -- How do they work?

I've been using QD's for years and have just accepted the fact that they work.

My question is -- How do they work? What's in them that allows them to remove dust and streaks without marring the finish of a vehicle?

Some manufacturers' QD's contain polymers which are supposed to compliment and extend the life of their sealants. Is this possible? (These QD's are rather pricey.)

hey, here's what i understand how Quick detailers work...
The formula contains oils that attract dirt like a magnet, and then once the dirt is trapped inside the tiny beads of the QD after the first wipe, then the oil acts as a lubricant to wipe the dirt away without letting it rub against the surface of the paint. And once the majority of the QD gets absorbed in the towel, it evaporates really fast to avoid spotting.

    Hope this helps.

I think you're alot like me, I have a hard time just accepting that things work. Not knowing HOW they work drives me crazy.

    Stevo.

      Good question.

If I get a chance, I try to find some meat to post, until then here's a couple of things I know.

A good quick detailer, or Mist & Wipe, contains an ingredients that,

      Lubricates the surface
      Encapsulated dirt and dust
      Adds gloss and slickness
      Leaves a streak-free finish
      Atomizes really well
      Wipes off easy

Matter of fact, since it's raining and I'm sitting here doing nothing, I think I'll QD the cars, and maybe I'll wax them, too.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

Because I have a broken right ankle, my Hemi is currently a well-waxed, undriven "garage queen". I just noticed that it has collected a wee bit of dust since I hit it NXT spray wax a couple of days ago. Do you suppose it's time to QD?

But I still wonder how the QD stuff works? Is Stevo's response close?

If you can't tell, I am getting darned bored sitting here on my butt thinking about QD's and such stuff. Two Harleys and a Hemi and I'm stuck being a passenger for six to eight weeks.
