....if you like spending countless hours buffing a car
Got a chance to buff an entire vehicle yesterday with the new M105. I've been really excited about trying this new product on an entire vehicle since I ordered it. I've done a couple of scratch repairs with it, but not an entire vehicle.
Got a Infinity G35 in a pearl white. This thing gave new meaning to the word swirled! It was horrible! Got the car all cleaned up, clayed and taped off, and brought out the buffer. My first impressions weren't good. Using the Solo maroon wool pad, and the Makita between 1200-1500rpms, it did nothing but gum up. Very frustrating to have to clean the pad after almost every pass. And this stuff was an absolute BEAR to remove from the paint!
Finally I decided to slow it down a bit. Pulled the rpm's down to about 900, slowed my motions down and used less product. I must say that the difference was amazing! It cut incredibly fast and left nothing behind! No buffer swirls, no holograming, nothing! It just left the paint glossy and wet looking.
Even though I had to slow everything down, the job went incredibly fast! I'd say about 1/3 faster than using any other cutting compound. Plus, the finish was good enough that I really didn't have to finish up with 80 afterwards, even though I did anyway
But a super light pass with 80 and a PC made this finish come out perfect!
The price is a little on the high side(I paid $90 for a gallon of it). But in the long run, I'd say that it is going to save me some serious money! For one, you use less product per pass. And 2, I think once I get a good technique down with this stuff, following up with 80 will be a thing of the past, so thats one less product that I'll have to use on a regular basis.
Anyhow, this is just my initial impression of the new product. I've only used it on one complete vehicle. And so far, I am seriously impressed! I can't wait to get a few more cars under my belt with this product, so I can see the characteristics of it on all the different types of paint(Mainly a black Vette, or new Mercedes). I don't think I've ever been this excited about a product since I used #80 for the first time, kinda makes me want to dance like a chili pepper
