Not sure whether to order #84 & 85 or #1 & #4?

Can someone explain the difference? Are 1 & 4 just less abrasive? Will #1 remove wetsanding marks just as good as #84? I'm definitely ordering 83 and 2 but I'm confused about the other compunds. Thanks

Somewhere on this forum we're sure there's a thread where we've answered these questions or very similar questions, the problem is find it and the problem with that is choosing just the right search words.

In a nutshell,

The lower number products are what we call the Traditional Mirror Glaze line mostly because they've been around for so long and they're all still very popular within the different segments of Automotive, Marine, Mold Release and Clear Plastics industries.

The 80's series is a line of products we launched in the early 90's in part based upon our knowledge gained making products for OEM assembly lines and in part new technology that really demanded brand new formulas, not merely trying to update older formulas because there are just too many people that buy, use and love our Traditional Mirror Glaze line.

So sometimes you just can't change a formula because too many people love the product the way it is and won't accept major changes in a product they like and in some cases depend on as a tool in their business or trade.

Instead of trying to type more about the differences, what are you working on?

Most people only need one or two swirl and scratch removers, a pure polish, (this is always optional), and then a quality wax or paint sealant.

What are you working on?
What are you trying to accomplish?
What do you have already?
How are you doing your work? by hand or machine and if by machine what kind of machine?

Thanks Mike. I'm just working on factory car paint junk panels with a rotary. I just want to practice removing defects, scratches, swirls, and water spots before I make the jump to a real car. I am already ordering #83 for light defects. I'm going to be practicing wet sanding and want a good product that will remove the marks without leaving bad swirls. So I was looking at 1 & 84 for this. I was also thinking about picking up a sample of #4 or #85 for any serious defects that 1 or 84 can't handle. The only mirror glaze product I have is #7 right now, but I'm looking to start building my repertoire .

Edit: Also what does the red arrow going up the left side of the Mirror Glaze bottle represent. The level of abrasives?

Yes with 12 being the highest and that's with the compounds M95 and M105. 85 is what I have and that's for use with a wool pad.

Too late I already ordered #84 and a bunch of other samples and supplies.
Mike you guys did an awesome job on that project. Looks like alot of fun and I'll definitely be adding M105 to my next order.
