  • Question regarding "Mirror Glaze" line

Hi everyone, was reading forums for a bit and decided to join. Really informative and friendly. Hats off to big M for their products that I get to use quite a bit.

I am getting ready to place a big order on Meg's online, but a little bit unsure of how numbers work. It seems like I would go down on the scale # (on the left of Mirror Glaze bottles) as I making progress with any car, but here is where I get a little lost. For example: #80 Speed Glaze has a number 4, while Swirl Remover 2.0 is 3. I though Speed Glaze if like a final touch before putting on wax. I am not sure how the number correlates to when it should be used (strength of the product).

    Can somebody help me out?

Also, what are the essentials one must have? I am thinking #83, #9, #3, #21 and #39. Is that enough?

    Thanks a lot!
    Igor.

Really the number on the products are nothing more than a model number/part number, a quick way to reference a product and nothing to do with the aggressiveness.

Are you using these product with a PC or by hand?

Sounds like you know the products but here is a good link to help with the numbers: Meguiars Online Acronyms - Product Links

I am using PC. So that scale on the side has nothing to do with how aggresive the product is? I already looked through that list, but thank you anyway.

Re: Question regarding "Mirror Glaze" line

The number on the side (scale) DOES IN FACT indicate the level of abrasiveness.

I use #83, #80 and #82 prior to applying either Nxt Tech Wax or #21. (With a PC.)

Figuring out which products to use takes a bit of experimentation and experience. I depends on the condition and type of paint. When in doubt, start with the LEAST ABRASIVE product. You can always go to a more abrasive cleaner, but there is no sense it taking off more paint than absolutely neccessary.

After washing and claying, I wind up using mostly #80, with #83 for more serious defects (followed by #80), and either #21 or NXT as a last step. To tell the truth, I haven't used #82 very much.

You will do just fine with clay, #83, #80 (8006 pads) and #21 (9006 pads).

Thanks STG! I usually have a good variety of cars to work with, from very rough (2004 Infinity FX35; when I saw it, I said "OMFG!") to well cared cars with minor swirls.

Sorry for the miss understanding, STG is correct... it was late when I was reading/typing and I missed this "It seems like I would go down on the scale # (on the left of Mirror Glaze bottles)...". I thought you were talking about the actual product #.
