  • #80 Speed Glaze

    Hi All,

How does #80 fit into Meguiar's product line?...Is it to be used as a follow up to #81?

I know that it's good for polishing a just painted car without interfering with the curing process, but is this the only reason that it was created?

I would think it would be similar to Swirl Free Polish, except it is suppose to protect as well as clean and polish. Its a # 4 on the cutting scale. Ive used it to remove light scratches and stains and it seems to work well.

I'm alittle confused myself. It's more aggressive than #82, but it breaks down like #83. I have only used it on colors that you can get away with one step. I wouldn't use it on black because I would still have to follow up with something, and I'm happy with my #83, #82 #81, nxt dance!. I love it on my wife mettalic brown paint. some #80, #81 and nxt does great ( I have to admitt, I ussally skip the #81, always in a hurry) not trying to say you can't use it on black just doesn't jive with my technique, or maybe just not sure where to put it in my line up.

Is it to be used as a follow up to #81?
no, it would be used before, in place of #82 maybe?

I don't seem to hear much about #80 Speed Glaze, but a good friend of mine suggested it for me. I ordered it, and I expect it here tomorrow.

Would you say that #80 is safe to use on any car?

2000 said it has to be followed up with. Would NXT wax be ok?

I see you wouldn't want to wax all the time... What alternate product do you suggest, then, would be good to use as a last step on a car?

BTW, I am not familiar with product names just by their #'s, I am still learning.

I like #80 and I use it on black cars all the time. It works really well with the rotary, its not as agressive as #83 but will still do a great job on swirls and light scratches.

Its one of those products that you just use when you feel its the correct product, when you dont quite need #83 and when something less agressive wont do it. I can buff a car swirl free with #80...top with NXT and it really looks good.

looks like I need to try alittle harder. using a rotery, what pad are you using? I guess I should feel fine with #80, just one of those "its not what I've done before" type of things.

              Hey,

I have been using Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze for 1.5 years now and really like the product!

Like Brian, I too like using it with a rotary, though the product does break down a little quickly. I also use it with the PC.

With the rotary, I like to use it with a W-9006 Finishing Pad.

With the PC, I prefer the W-8006 Polishing Pad..

Either way, the resulting finish will look incredible!

This is how I use it too !! Its a different product, It seems to have more chemical cleaners in it as well. Its amazing some of the things it works on...like water spots. Some products don't want to touch them and sometimes speed glaze just eliminates them.

                      Hey,

I have no idea where I am!!

I like to use #80 Speed Glaze on paint that has light swirls or on newer vehicles where the paint is in generally very good condition. I have found the product to be extremely versatile!

I still top it with either the #20/26 combo or NXT Tech Wax.

No, it was just that I had questions, and no one was answering them

Do you always have to top with a wax? I know the answer is no, but if you just polish it, can that be the last step in your process?

you do not "have" to top it but if you want any protection you should. If its a show car or a garage queen it might be okay to polish and leave it at that

How often should you use the PC anyway?

Is it bad to use wax too much when you use the PC?

How often you use the pc is up to you, I use it everytime I wax or polish a car. You always want a thin uniform coat of wax. Too much and you are wasting product and wqill make it harder to wipe off.
