  • Spraying #21 as a spray wax

    Hi,

Has anyone tried mixing some #21 into Final Inspection or NXT Quick Detailer and sprayed that as a spray on wax in between full details?

Any comments on doing something as blasphemous as this?

You might have to be the one to try this and tell us how it works.

Questions like this come up all the time on this forum as well as others and the simple truth his as far as a Meguiar's product goes... it isn't going to work as long as you define the word work as meaning effective.

I will pass the link to this thread on to a number of people to let them know there is a number of people hoping to see a spray-on version of M21

        How's that?

i think there is plenty of product choices as it is.
Why people want to mix them to come up with their own is beyond me. I say leave that to the meguiars chemists

Yes, effective is the key word that I should have mentioned instead of work. I realise that with M21's longer set up/hazing time, mixing M21 with a QD might not be effective as the polymer cannot form a solid film quick enough before the QD liquid dries up, probably leaving small patches of M21 instead of a layer.

That would be great! It would be useful to those who want to do a quick top up on their layer of M21 and not have to break out the PC. Something that would replace the QD step after a wash. Instead of just improving the look and slickness, it would improve protection, especially for spots that have been hit by bird poo and require a reapplication of sealant.

Personally, I'm not a fan of spray on waxes/sealants unless it's a spray on and wipe off method. If I have to use an applicator pad and wait for it to haze then I may as well just apply another coat of "regular" wax. This is one reason I don't use NXT Booster Wax.

An M21-based spray detailer I'd maybe use, but it would take a lot to pry me away from my current spray detailer.

What you want is NXT Spray Wax........apply to the MF not the paint, do the whole car then buff up.........wipe on wipe off...........and it can be applied wet even in the rain, I know cause I've done it eh

Agree 100%. To me a spray wax has to be WOWO or as far as I'm concerned there's no benefit in using one. "Regular" NXT cures in about 5 minutes on a moderately windy day (which we get plenty of here in the UK) so I can pretty much start taking it off once I've got round the car applying it.

Yuo get out of it what you put into it.
21 is very easy to apply and take off.....spend the extra 20 minutes and do it correctly. The results will show

From what a rep from Megs office tells me, #21 is actually slightly weaker then the NXT. Its the closest sealant to the NXT in the pro line that they could make....

I think he meant weaker in terms of cleaning ability. If you put a thick film of #21 on a smooth surface and leave it to dry, you actually get a SOLID layer of #21 that you can peel off!

This is what he must have ment^...my little experiments show M21 has it all over NXT.

I've never seen this or heard of this and Meguiar's products just don't work like that, however I could be wrong as I've never applied a thick coat?

I don't have time tonight as I'm preparing for tomorrow's Porsche class but I might try this on Sunday and either either show this to be true or false, my strong hunch is no way will a thick coat of this peel off.
