  • Detailer Dressings? - ASD, SFD & HD

Meguiar's has three dressings in the detailer line.

I need clarification on when and where to use these products.

Hyper dressing is used in the engine compartment, in the wheel wells, and on the tires?

All season dressing is to be "used on all exterior rubber and plastic surfaces."

Silicone free dressing is used in paint sensitive times, again on exterior rubber and plastic.

How do I differentiate the usage of these products? Thanks

Hyper Dressing is an all purpose dilutable dressing, the idea behind being dilutable is to give the user control over the results by choosing the strength of the product.

All season dressing is to be "used on all exterior rubber and plastic surfaces."
The idea behind the name, All Season Dressing is that it can be used in all 4 different seasons, and thus 4 different extreme, (from one another), climate conditions and still perform to industry benchmarks. Because some seasons are wet and rainy, this is a solvent-based dressing that will hold up better than a water-based dressing in these types of environments.

Silicone free dressing is used in paint sensitive times, again on exterior rubber and plastic.
Silicone-Free Dressing is a product that body shops can use to dress tires, and other exterior surfaces such as rubber, plastic and vinyl without fear of introducing silicones into the fresh paint environment where they could contaminate the shop and cause surface adhesion problems in the application of fresh paint.

How do I differentiate the usage of these products? Thanks
Hyper-Dressing is an all-purpose, water-based dressing, it provides you the user with a product you can use on multiple surfaces while giving you control over the strength and thus the appearance of the results. It will not last as long as a solvent-based dressing.

All Season Dressing is a solvent-based dressing that will last longer than a water-based dressing when exposed to inclimate weather. It is typically for use only on exterior components and is not dilutable.

Silicone-Free Dressing is formulated for and targeted at body shops who after painting or detailing a car would also like to dress tires and other components so the car has a Complete Detailed Look" to it without the fear of contaminating their shops.

Think about it, you work in a body shop, you paint a customers car, they come to pick it up and the paint looks great but the tires are dull and brown, it kind of takes away from the big picture. Having a way to dress the tire and other exterior components gives the car the complete finished look, the look that completely wows! the customer when they come to pick up their freshly painted car.

That might be the best description of the products I have ever seen. Much more usefull than the back of bottle labeling. Perhaps something like that could be incorporated into labeling of each product, such as the idea behind/for each product.

        Murr1525,

We would love to be able to put as much information on the labels as we know, but many times we are limited by the size of a label.

In the case of the Detailer Line, keep in mind, these products are designed for an industry that understand and knows why, when and where to use these types of products so it we didn't place too much technical info on those labels.

We do hear your concern, and try as mush as possible to make the labels as clear as possible for each industry. (Consumer, Professional, Mold Release, etc...)

We are also working towards downloadable technical information on our website for people who wish to know more.

Id like to add a lil something on Silicoln Free Dressing...

I have yet to find a better dressing to use in wheel wells and engine bays. Silicoln free dressing is less likely to "run" or "drip" like other dressings, creating a uniform look without any going over, spray it and leave it. It also dries to a non tacky finish. This is great for wheel wells because they wont pick up all the dust, sand, dirt, ect the first time the car rides down the road. The same holds true for it on the engine, it doesnt dry tacky, so the engine compartment doesnt become a dust magnet, and you dont get greasy working on the engine.

Silicoln Free Dressing is just as useful out of the paint shop!
