    Thanks!

I have both UPW and ULW, but it's the smell of Gold Class paste that gets me. Love it and need to buy it.

Agreed, UQW actually enhances the look of black trim. You can basically use it on all exterior surfaces.

    1. Is this the case with Gold Class Carnauba Plus Paste Wax or Gold Class Carnauba Plus Liquid wax?

    2. Will UQW turn trim white? I'm aware that UPW will turn trim white and that ULW will not, both being sun friendly according to their packaging.
The Gold Class liquid and paste waxes can stain trim if allowed to dry on it. If you keep a microfiber towel over your shoulder while applying these or any other liquid/paste wax you can then immediately wipe off any product that you accidentally get onto trim, thereby alleviating this issue.

UQW will not stain trim at all..... it will probably make it look better!

For the record, it's basically the "carrier ingredients" in liquid and paste waxes that cause staining on trim, not necessarily the wax itself.

Those podcasts with you guys are great.

Larry is a great guy. I mean how humble is he when he literally says on one of his videos that he pulled his polishes from his line up to be revamped because his don't compare to what Meguiar's polishes do. He also stated that he will be using Meguiar's polishes until his meet his expectations.

Using Meguiars MF towels and this drying method is unlike any other method when using a specific drying towel… Way smoother, just GLIDES across surface and leaves “traces” of product that just vanish… I’ve tried it with Turtle Wax Wax as you dry, Meguiars Wax as you dry with AWESOME results on black cars. Leaves NOTHING behind yet is MUCH safer IMO… BUT, I want to incorporate GC sprays when drying…

S O, would you recommend GC Plus wax or detailer in spray version for this method?
Larry's a great guy and a good buddy of both Jason Rose and myself (have you listened to his Podcasts with us???) and I don't think he'd mind too terribly much that you'd rather use our products than something else (including the few products he markets under his own brand).

We have supported the "wax as you dry" concept for a very, very long time - going back to the introduction of our plain jane "QuikWax". Whether you prefer the plain Quik Wax, the Gold Class Quik Wax because you're a hard core carnauba kinda guy, or Ultimate Quik Wax for it's durability (or D156 Synthetic Express Spray Wax because you'd rather buy in bulk) makes no difference. We would recommend that you use the spray wax versions of these rather than the spray detailers when drying, if only because the waxes actually leave some protection and other characteristics (depending on which of these you choose) on the paint. We also prefer using the waffle weave Water Magnets for this step simply because they are designed to absorb water where as a typical microfiber polishing towel tends to be, well, challenged to remove water from the paint. Now, if you're keeping a good coat of wax on the car to begin with, and you're using the sheeting method of letting a smooth, steady stream of water flow over the paint to remove a large percentage of water, then you could probably get away with a Supreme Shine towel or two for drying purposes. Personally, I use the Water Magnets for drying, along with D156, whenever I do a typical hose and bucket wash.

Plenty of guys use Ultimate Quik Wax/D156 as a drying aid similar to what Larry's product does. UQW/D156 is great as a drying aid.

Glad to see this thread resurrected, We don't see many posts about this terrific Gold Class Quik Wax product here on the forum. The qualities we desire from carnauba based waxes live on and on when GCQW is used regularly. This is my go to maintenance finisher since I have two black cars in the family and both follow the same regimen.
    - Clean
    - M205 (1x or 2x per year)
    - Ultimate Liquid Wax (2 coats)
    - M26
    - Gold Class Quik Detailer
    - Gold Class Quik Wax

Using GCQD 2-3 times per week and GCQW every week extends the life of M26 and keeps that deep black almost 3 dimensional look I love.
Three cheers for Gold Class Quik Wax!!!

No staining I've ever seen. I use GCQD to clean plastic and rubber trim, and GCQW helps protect it (along with Ultimate Black treatments).

So the +Plus products for GC will not stain trim or plastic?
    GC +Plus paste, liquid, sprays...?

    Thanks!

Re: Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax

I've been using Gold Class Quik Wax for around 3 years now and I love it. In fact, it's one of the best "secrets", and best products, in detailing. I'm into carnauba-based finishing, using Gold Class or Detailer D301 waxes, and while there is a bit of carnauba in Ultimate Quik Wax and Detailer D156 Xpress Spray Wax (ref), they are primarily synthetic-based and seem intended to be more glossy than deep. It's a subtle difference I really like for my black pearl metallic paint, because it already has plenty of gloss and pop on its own, so the carnauba approach makes it incredibly deep and other-worldly. As for the matching detailer, I use GCQD for spot cleaning, waterless washing in a pinch, clay lube, glass and some interior work, and panel preparation for DA work. Both bottles go with the car everywhere. GCQW, based on carnauba, can actually tide me over indefinitely with full protection until my next re-wax or correction, and is surprisingly durable. It helps me maintain my carnauba-based wax job on a non-garaged daily driver with a professional show car appearance

Re: Gold Class Carnauba Plus Quik Wax

I am actually playing around with this currently. I have a coat of NXT on my black Challenger for a base, and have it topped with GCCW+. I have alternated between using D156 (UQW) and GCQW and my experience has been that the look of the car just tends to follow whatever I put on last. So what kiwiatlarge said would work, you can use the synthetics for most washes to give it the hydrophobic properties and the durability, and "top" it with GCQW for special occasions.

I can say Gold Class really deepens the color and makes the flake in my metallic black pop like crazy, it really shows off the paint. It performs just as well as advertised. I find that the D156 leaves that typical sealant super high gloss, almost to the point where the brightness of the reflections masks the actual paint underneath it. It looks awesome in it's own way.

Off the top of my head for instance... do a full detail a few days before a show event, wash the car using the UQW as the car dries the morning of the event, and then following up with the Gold Class Spray Wax or Detailer right before the car goes on show?

Just curious as there is a lot of discussion of 'Vs', and I'm just wondering if there is any merit to just using both, lol..

Well, at this point you both are sort of just thinking out loud...........of course you can top any wax or sealant with any other wax or sealant, and you can play with combinations to your heart's content! But any resulting visuals from any combination you can think to mix are going to be totally subjective, so if you like it, go for it. On MOL and other detailing forums we've probably heard mention of every possible mix of synthetics, carnaubas, spray waxes, quick detailers, etc. If you play around and hit upon something that really strikes you, then good for you. Some people think it's crazy to try a bunch of combinations while others think it's just part of the fun of detailing. If you get enjoyment from it, and you like the end result, there's no way for us to discourage you mixing and matching products.
