  • Sell Me Some Products!!!

    Hello All!

I hate to hit and run with a post that could probably be solved with some time spent Googling, but I hate to Google... you just get sooooo much bad information.

I have a 2005 Ranger Reata 1850 fiberglass boat. I want the know what products I should use for the following jobs:

    1. General washing
    2. Light gelcoat scratch removing
    3. Gelcoat sealing
    4. Gelcoat polishing
    5. Gelcoat waxing

Thank you very much for sharing your experience!!!

    Follow this yellow brick road...

Go to Meg's home page>Pick 'Americas' from the location>See 'Car Care'?, hover and click on 'Marine'. A boat load (pun not intended) of info.

I tried to do a link, didn't work.

      2. Light gelcoat scratch removing For very light scratches and swirls our M44 Color Restorer is a very mild product, but you could easily and safely step up to M49 Oxidation Remover for routine below surface defect removal
      3. Gelcoat sealing This and waxing are basically the same thing, with "sealing" generally used to describe the application of a fully synthetic wax, and "waxing" generally describing the use of a carnauba wax. Synthetics will last longer, and you don't have to use both. Our top choice would be our Flagship Premium Marine Wax, which will offer great long lasting synthetic protection.
      4. Gelcoat polishing For some gloss enhancement between defect removal and wax/sealant, M45 High Gloss Polish is the way to go.
      5. Gelcoat waxing See 3. above

Andy, we've made some notes above in red to help you out with some product selection.

One other thing you might consider, however, is using either our Flagship Ultimate Quik Wax (or D156 Synthetic Xpress Spray Wax which is basically the same thing but available in gallon containers) after every outing. A simple spray on, wipe off synthetic polymer wax that makes clean up and removal of fresh water spots a breeze.
