If you have M57 then I suggest using that.

When working on deck on a boat, I scrub the seats clean with APC and a brush, then follow up with M57 or QID.

There is absolutely no problem using M40 on your boat. I assume you mean the vinyl seats or similar surface of your boat?

I use M40 on all of our boats, its works very very very well
The 57 is a little to shinny for me.
M 40 make clean up after a day on the water very quick
