Bought a used boat that had a big yamaha sticker sitting on skiff deck. Of course when I removed the sticker the gelcoat underneath looks new. The other is faded. Is there a method to restore the original color.

It looks as if the texture around that area is rough, like a non-slip surface?
If that is the case, I am not sure how you could polish on that without destroying any pads you used.
Or am I just seeing it the wrong way? Is it smooth or rough? -

It has a rough non skid finish. I was thinking the same thing about the pads. I was thinking of trying the m6732 but thought I would get some ideas first.Comment

Just a WAG...
Been thinking about since yesterday when I first read it.
How about trying a VERY gentle/soft small brush (tooth brush?) along with a liquid product?
Let us know how anything works.

This sticker has caused some type of discolorization process. I used a wool pad and compound on it last night and all it did was sand down the non skid(which is sand like particles) . now It looks like white dots mixed in with the greyish looking color.
I've tried ever chemical known thinking it was residue from the sticker. thinner acetone all kinds of cleaners.....Comment

Is the non-skid an 'after' gel-coat application or made during the molding process?
Meaning, was the boat built, THEN the non-skid was applied and some sort of color coat on top of that or is the non-skid actual FG bumps?
If the non-skid is a sand product then color coated, you can try to sand it down, working all the way to 2000+ sandpaper and then attack with M49 (HD Oxidation Remover) and/or M44 (Color Restorer). You'd want to try this in really small area first to see what would happen.
One other idea, guess you can say last resort idea, is to sand the area smooth and reapply non-skid tape. Agree, won't be as nice as getting the gel coat all nice and shiny.
