  • Will attempt to detail my 30' ToyHauler

so i will be doing this tomorrow AM. the products i have is the Marine/RV Cleaner Wax (M50), M54 Gel Wash. While prepping (step1-Cleaning)the RV for wax, do i apply the M50 w/ a cutting or polishing pad? i will be using the g110.

as far as the rubber roof, do i use M57?

I would apply with the polishing pad. As to the rubber roof, be careful what you use there. The rubber is warrantied for 10 years and the mfgr. says not to use any product with petroleum distillates on it. RV stores sell several different rubber roof cleaners and treatments. The pros that detail RVs in my resort use 303 Protectant on the rubber. It's the up and down the ladder that is a killer!

What kind of finish does this have? Painted? If so, then don't use a cutting pad, instead use a polishing pad like the W-8006 Foam Polishing Pad. The W-7006 foam cutting pad could possibly haze the paint and you don't want to do that to something this large.

Also, before going over the entire trailer, be sure to do a test spot and make sure you're getting the results you want with the M50 Boat Cleaner/Wax.

Also, use speed setting 5.0 and only work small sections at at time, about 20" square or so.

When you move onto a new section be sure to overlap a little into the previous section.

Technically you will work the M50 and then let it dry before removing it.

We don't make a product at this time to protect rubber roofs... so might look for something else like Poki recommended.

Good luck, start early, work fast...

            Check.

The reason I asked is because in most cases you can use a more aggressive pad for a gel-coat without hazing the finish, for example if the oxidation is real bad then you could use our W-7006 foam cutting pad. This will give the M50 more cleaning power which will make it faster to do each section and thus the the entire job faster.

That said, Meguiar's always teaches people to,

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

So if you can use a W-8006 foam polishing pad with the M50 and get the results you're looking for then you should.

This is where you should do a test spot as soon as you can so you can figure out if the W-8006 polishing pad with the M50 are going to work for you.

well today i did a quick rinse of the toyhauler and on the front cap of the TH, i scraped some bird droppings, which left a nice "yellowish" stain on the fiberglass. any tips on removing the stain? i might as well do my test spot on there w/ the M50.... i will take some before and after pics and post back w/ my results.

Mike, is the RV/Marine product safe on the gel coat front caps?

Your going to find out that you'll do a decent job but a pro detailer would have been worth every penny -
