Just like the title says, how much cut does each of these products offer? I'm very experienced using the #49 Oxidation Remover, but just got to thinking about where it fall in the line up.

Nothing, yet. Was just curious as to the cut. My boat was saved by the #49 + the rest of the oxidation removal kit. Actually, come to think of it, I could put this stuff to work on my $62 eBay project boat.

M49 Oxidation Remover is the least aggressive of these 3...

M67 One Step Compoundis next in line and was designed more for hand application but can be used by machine for 2000 grit or finer

M91 Power Cut Compound is the most aggressive...It was designed to remove up to 1000 - 1200 grit on gel coat by rotary machine but can also be used by hand.

Hi, Could you make a recommendation on what to use for my boat? I have purchased Meguiar's Fiberglass restoration system. As I read on I learned there are more aggressive products but seen the great work on several recreational vehicles in this forum, but then again I dont think I need something as aggressive for my situation. Can you make a recommendation based on the photo I have attached? Thanks a lot.

Guys, using #67 and a Porter Cable, what pads would be appropriate?.My boat is heavily oxidized abouve the rub rail and I'm having no success restoring the gloss...I'm sure it has nothing to do with me being inexperienced with the PC, though LOL.

Start off with a polishing pad, but if that doesn't take care of the issue then try a cutting pad.

Where does the #44 Color Restorer fit in here? and when do you want to use it versus #49?

44 is less aggressive than all of these and should be used for light duty correction or even as a maintenance type product to keep the finish looking its best. If it were a car finish product it would be a light duty paint cleaner.

what is the best tool and pad to apply the #44 (and can I ask the same question for #49 ) I have a PC/Flex and Rotary and own wool and foam pads

And the #44 will correct light oxidation and small scratches? and does it have any polish in it?

M44 is probably best left to your DA/Flex use with a foam polishing pad. It does have some polishing oils in it, yes.

M49 can be used more aggressively, right up to rotary/wool pad if need be. But it can also be used with your Flex with either a foam polishing or cutting pad.

Speed is going to be dependent on severity of defect and how the gel coat responds to the input.

I bought a 2000 260DA Searay in Dec '07.
For those that did not see her when or before I bought her she was pretty oxidized and needed some love.



Here are some pictures taken after the first go around compounding Spring '08




I never completed compounding, polishing through wax. But kept doing sections until now. The above mostly was done with 3m Super duty compoung and then to Meguiar's #67. I really like #67. It does a great job and finishes not as aggressive.
This last weekend I busted out the Makita 9227C and Porter cable 7424(PC)and got about 1/4 of the boat done in the last two days. I think I've found a great combination of Meguiar's and SeaPower. I first threw some Meguiar's 49 on the Makita(I ran out of #67), then buff it off. Then I take the PC and some Meguiar's 45 polish, buff it off, then SeaPower cleaner wax and buff it off. It's amazing. I'm very happy. I can see myself straight on and even though looking at the boat at an angle looks good, you can really tell where I just did this compared to where I stopped when looking straight on. Just thought I'd pass along a decent combo of process and product. I'm all the way through the waxing process on 1/4 of the boat now.
You can see on the left of the "D" in Sundancer is where I stopped.
