  • Jet Ski Discoloration

I have a good friend of mine who called me today and wondered if I knew what he could use to get "discoloration" off his white JetSki...the discoloration starts at the water line and goes down from there and is off white or yellowish...I believe he said the Jet Ski is made of "gelcoat" or similar to fiberglass...I have no idea as I've never even been on one let alone owned one...I do have a very extensive supply of Meg's stuff for cars, #83, #80, ColorX etc etc...I didn't know if I could use the same stuff I have on a Jet Ski so I thought I'd ask the only group of people I know that would know !!!

    Any help is appreciated...

First time reader...hmmm lets see...not into detailing water craft but the Meg's How to keep your boat looking its brillant best brochure infront of me says....

      Wash
Gel Wash M5416 /473mL Lifts boat scum, dirt, salt spray, grime, bird droppings and does not strip wax.

      Surface Prep
Color Restorer M4416 /473mL Removes light oxidisaion, stains and blemises from all fibreglass, RV and Painted marine surfaces.
      OR
Oxidation Remover M4916 /473mL Removes moderate oxidation, scratchs, stains, tough water spots for all fibreglass, RV and Painted marine surfaces.

      Polish and Protect
One Step Cleaner Wax M5016 /473mL Non-abasive that restores, polishes and protects all boats and rv's in one easy step. Removes minor oxidation, haze, fine scratchs and swirls while providing long lasting protection against salt air, corrosion, uv rays.

Would be my choice but you can also get a High gloss polish like DC polish for cars and Flagship premium wax which is like DC carunba wax for cars as well but I like the One steper listed.

On the back of the brochure it has.....
It is necessary to remove all the "dead" gelcoat (or paint) before lasting colour and gloss can be restored. In most cases Meg's Color restorer will do the job. To ensure the oxidation has been completly removed, check that the surface feels very smooth. Repeat if necessary or revert to Meg's Oxidation remover. Follow with Meg's one step clear wax to polish and protect the finish.

      Hope this helps a little.

Same thing happens on my boat when I pull it out of the water. I usually hit it with the PC 8006 and heavy duty oxidation remover. Works great. Im sure you could do the same with color restorer but I have never used that product. I had bad oxidation on my boat when I puchased my DA I knew I was going to have to go more aggressive then color restorer to do what I wanted. Oxidation Remover does work real nice and leaves a nice finish to follow up with a polish or with my favorite the Flagship Premium Marine Wax
