  • First $$$ Job

OK, so it was a barter for a cake (Mom's suprise b'day) and some $$$ but every little bit helps.

It is a 2004 GMC Denali

The truck was bought about 5 months ago and the owner is semi-religious about its care.

I gave it a thorough wash, and then was able to put two coats of NXT on without much other prep being needed. I did the interior also, and that came out awesome as well. I did have a huge (HUGE) issue with the NXT glass cleaner. ANyone else ever had problems? Anyone want a slightly used bottle?

    Looks good....

What was the issues with the glass cleaner? I am almost done with my first bottle and wouldn't give it up for anything!

      Linting from my microfiber towels......

And it left the windows kinda streaky, took a lot of "extra" buffing to make the windows look normal, and then they still had like a "smokers" film on 'em. Overall it was a pretty frustrating experience.

The Meguiars Rep I spoke with suggested misting my microfiber towel with plain water before cleaning the window. I guess we'll see how that works.

I use the Duo-Fiber towel with the cleaner and once in awhile there will be a little piece of lint here and there but nothing like you talk about. Had the microfibers been washed before, maybe a couple washes would clean the lint out?

Which microfiber towels were you using?

The linting problem isn't actually the fault of the NXT Glass Cleaner, which has had nothing but glowingn reviews.

I used some Meguiar's microfibers, and some that I bought through Poorboy's World. None were "glass" microfibers, but I wouldn't think there would be that much difference. Maybe I am wrong.

The other issue was the "smear" factor, which seemed to last forever, no matter had hard I rubbed. I finally was able to eliminate it on the windshield(inside) with a Meguiar's microfiber drying towel. Outside I ended up resorting to my old college days trick of a thin coat of wax (NXT).

I know a buddy of mine has had linting issues with the Glass Microfiber too, infact he was sent a replcement when he called about it. The replcement performed the same as the original one did.

I am all ears for ideas. It sucked when I was delivering it back to the guy and I noticed the left over haze on the inside of the windshield.

The glass cleaner when applied and removed correctly with a good quality microfiber won't streak. That is, it's not the problem of the liquid glass cleaner but instead will have to do with your wiping cloth.

If you haven't already, try only using microfiber polishing cloths that have been washed a few times to insure their is not loose fibers to cause a linting problem.

A quality microfiber with our NXT Glass Cleaner shouldn't cause problems when cleaning glass. I've personally never experienced streaking problems and the countless number of posts on this forum and comments from attendees for our Saturday Detailing classes echo this experience.

Try again an some other vehicles and see what kind of results you get...

I figured I would give it another shot, but still am a bit discouraged.

The rest of the detail went well, so it still goes down as a plus.

                Thanks Mike.

The only time I had this happen was when I washed my MF towels with terry towels...won't make that mistake again....the MF towels did pick up a ton of lint that I didn't see until I used NXT Glass Cleaner on my windsheild and saw all this lint !!...the cleaner is awesome...at least for me, it was "user error"...
