  • First time complete detailing of my '98 Black Magic Pearl VW Passat

    Finally!
Since the past week I finally got my Meguiars products together..... I could finally give my car a full three step detailing!

First I hosed down the car with high pressure

    Step 1:
Washed the car by hand with Gold Class Shampoo en Conditioner.

    Step 2:
Applied Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (unlike the smell of the other Meguiars products, this Cleaner didn't had that fruity smell..... kinda chemical). I used a normal applicator pad to apply the DCPC to the car and partly wiped it with the Even Coat Applicator.... but, when the car isn't 100% dry, it doesn't gave a perfect result.
(It was just to try the ECA.... so I had to do numerous parts twice)

    Step 3:
Deep Crystal Polish. With pads a microfibre cloth.

    Step 4:
    Gold Class Liquid Car Wax.
The final step, with the normal pad, and wiped with the Ultatimate Wipe.

    Then,
Finedetailing with Gold Class Trimdetailer en de NXT Glass
    Cleaner.

    All was done by hand.

Because I had to drive home through a street full of mud (hooray for the corn to be harvested in this time...) I didn't do the tyres with a gel.

    THE before-after photos!

    A few reflection shots:

    My experience:
Phew, don't underestimate the amount of time you need to do a total detailing.
But, when the sun finally came through at 5 pm I saw a complete "new" finish.
My youngest brother (wich helped me enormous!) said, "it's almost as if there's some gold flake in your finish!"

Unfortunatly I didn't got to use the Quick Clay system, this is sold out at the moment in the Netherlands.

Scratch X was also not used, this due to time limitations.

It's a pity the whole afternoon was cloudy.... I didn't got to make photo's with the sun shining in the paint.....
I also, don't have a clue, whether I reduced the swirlmarks on my car.

When I was finaly finished (6:45) , the sun was allready setting..... and I was sweating everywhere.

This was the first time I used the Meguiars step-by-step program, it was a great succes (didn't expect anything less). My car is the shiniest one in my street!

        Hi ViperArry,

        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Looks clean and shiny!, Good write-up too! Sometimes Mr. Sun just doesn't cooperate, we have that same problem from time to time during our Saturday Detailing Classes and it makes it hard to show good before and afters...

Good job nevertheless and thank you for sharing this with our forum!

          Thanks for the compliments...

This was the third time I used Meguiars on my car. The first time to use the Step products.

My last wash (with GC Shampoo) was 2 weeks ago.

I picked up a lot of mud while avoiding traffic jams.... by driving through agricultural areas.

          @Paulvr4
You're completly right about the tyre treatment... but because I had to drive off through the MUD (corn harvesting season) I didn't used it.
