Last weekend's planned detail was a wash because of the rain. However, this weekend's forecast has held up wonderfully here in the Chicago suburbs with sunny and 72 degrees farenheit outside.
I actually awoke as the sun was rising today, (a feat in and of itself if you knew my schedule), and set about to give the Benz her first detail. I took the Benz down to my trusted car wash facility, brought it back, and went to work.
I started off claying the car with Meguiars aggresive clay that I recently received from the Meguiars Hurricane Katrina Relief Store. (If you haven't done so already, pick up a few things, it's for a good cause). I'm really glad I used the aggressive clay on the car. It really made quick work of the finish. I'm quite sure I would've been working on it an extra 30-45 minutes with the consumer clay. I'm not saying the consumer product isn't worth it's weight, I just needed a little something extra for the 3 years of built up contamination.
Next, I reached for my trusty roll of 3M blue painters tape and taped off the trim pieces, around the door handles, and anywhere else that wouldn't need Meguiars' products all over it.
That being said, I went right to the PC and Meguiars' #83 DACP. There were many parts of the finish that I felt warranted using this right away without using a less aggresive product. And I'm glad I did, as you will see.
Now it's feeding time! I chose my favorite polish, Meguiars' #81 Body Shop Hand Polish, applied with a W-9006 pad with the PC. Already, I could see the results were going to be spectacular. I know some might say it's overkill since #83 DACP is also a polish as well but, I sincerely believe this maybe the first time outside of the dealership that this vehicle has seen a good application of polish.
And for the Coup De Grace..........Meguiars' NXT liquid wax! Once again, applied with the PC and a W9006 pad.
Here are the results:

Someone in another post asked for a pic or two of the interior, so here we go...
From start to finish, about 5 hours worth of time spent. Not a bad way to spend a saturday morning if I do say so myself
