  • 2000 Cadillac STS - full detail

    Hi,

I figure I post this to see what you all think. It was my very first mobile detail job - just put everything in the back of my wagon and drove to the clients house - 5 hrs later we finished - what do you think?

    here is what we did:

inside: apc on leather (took longest time), then leather cleaner/conditioner, apc on pedals door jams etc, spot shampoo (incl trunk) with bissell proheat quik interior detailer on the wood and upper dash, hyper dressing on rubber weather stripping, glass cleaner concentrate on windows etc.etc. qtips and all

outside: wash, clay, 80 then 21, plastx on headlights/taillights, nxt metal polish on wheels and exhaust pipes, wheel brightener on wheels/tires, all season dressing on tires and wheel wells

engine: super degresser w/ pressure washer and hyper dressing to dress

    Pics below;

Before - car was clean outside overall

Steering wheel had lots of caked on grime. The left is APC w/ brush and the right was the before picture

Seats - the white area is 1 pass w/ interior detail brush and APC:
(note the seatbelt/center console area - you'll see a better pic of afterwards below)

    Steering wheel/seats afterwards

    Picture w/ door jam cleaned

All Clean! (notice seatbelt area )

    Rear seats

    Engine - so dirty!

    Hyper Dressing rocks!

    Exterior pics:

so what do you all think?

    Looks great man, wonderful job.

I think the interior is a HUGE difference. I once did an Acura that had the same kind of marks and stains on the white leather. I'm not familiar with "APC" must be something new? whatever it is, it sure works well.

Great job for only 5 hours of work.

      Thanks!

APC = all purpose cleaner - amazing stuff, didn't think anything else could work that would be safe for the leather.

            Great work Paul!

These two shots here help everyone to see just how grimy leather can get...

The thing I would like to point out is that it's easy to see the difference in before and after partly because this leather is so dirty and it's light in color to start with. But think about this... if you're working on a leather, or even vinyl interior for that matter that is medium brown, dark brown, gray or black, the dirt build up will not be as easy to see because the color of the material lends itself to camouflage the dirt, but... the dirt and grime can still be present your eyes just can't detect it.

This is why it's important to actively maintain all the different areas and components that make up your car, truck or s.u.v., if it's a daily driver then it's seeing wear & tear and the result is surfaces getting dirty and thus needing regular cleaning and care.

Great work Paul, thank you for taking the time to take photographs throughout the process and then sharing them with our forum!

Wow, that looks so much better! Did you use the APC diluted 10:1? Can I use the APC on cloth seats at 10:1 and not have to worry about it changing the color? After seeing those pictures, I am thinking I should do and all around interior fabric cleaning. Awesome job though.

                Thanks Lncanney!

I did it at 10:1 dilution, I haven't tried it on cloth seats - I will definately get the foaming sprayer for future since I think it works best. I might try the cloth whenever I get a chance, but so far that stuff is great! =)

Great work! APC is amazing, people are shocked when I show them it in action.
The only thing that I have ever found with it is this: I just about alays use it closer to 4:1, and when cleaning (it seems only fords) buttons and swiches with white lettering on them, like window switches, cruise etc... the apc can take a little white off, but when the switch is wiped down there is still all the white there. (confusing lol) I mean that you see a white smear, but when your done, the lettering is still 100% in tact. I have noticed this on a 94 F150 and 96 crown vic.

Great job in a short time!

I know the pain of cleaning leather! Just add accumulated dog slobber and dog hair to the mix! (that reminds me I need to post some pics! )

APC can be used on fabric. I use it on my own seats and carpet and use it on client cars as well. The only thing I have had a problem with is that a rubber floor mat sat in the sun (sun came out and I didn't think about it) and it faded part of the mat. A little #40 and it was good as new. I made sure to tell the owner so that if there was a problem I would replace the mat.

It works great as a spot remover!

                          Exterior in more detail:

1)washed with GC - haven't found a way to transport hyper wash easily yet. - does anyone have an idea?
2)clayed paint with soapy GC wash water (not the same as the dirty wash water)
                          3)dry with megs drying towel
4)#80 speed glaze with 8006 pad on G-100 at speed setting #5
                          5)wiped down with microfiber
6)#21 polymer sealant with 9006 pad on G-100 at speed setting #3 - let it sit for 20 minutes
                          7) wipe off with microfiber

that's it. 80 is an amazing product and 21 - is just a gift to all of us.

                          gotta love it!

Excellent work on the interior. Mike makes a great point about the camouflaging of dirt on brown leather.

APC is now on the 'must-buy-soon' list - high on the list.

APC is also great on headliners -

Just get a little bit on a towel and dab it on - not rub it in.

                              Works WONDERS!!!

Especially on those VW/Audi headliners that are so finely weaved.
