  • MB S600, inclement weather (56K warning)

    I traded in my C320 4-Matic for a 2002 S600 about 3 weeks ago. I went on vacation for 2 weeks right afterwards and haven't had the time or opportunity to give her the first full detail she deserves.

    I checked the weather this morning and the forecast was for EVENING thunderstorms! Not thunderstorms at 1:30pm! Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be a decent day to continue.

    Here's the plan of attack for the detail;
    1. Clay the entire vehicle. (I don't think it's ever been done to it).
    2. Start off with good ole #83, DACP. The swirl marks and cobwebbing on it warrant it.
    3. Hand Polish, #81. A favorite of mine, applied with the PC.
    4. Nxt wax, two coats, applied on succesive days.

    I've become rather fond of using Scratch-X followed by #83 to really work small scratches out, and I think I will use that method to set up the finish for polish and wax. Any opinions are appreciated and welcomed.

    Here are some new (before) pics of the S600. After pics will be posted as soon as I can get about 4-6 hours of non-precipitation daylight!

    I have a regular client w/the same vehicle. Yours looks very smooth already & w/ scratchX as a start you'll do just fine. I used the Megs cleaner wax then a double rub of NXT. Showed nice & he's still a client. Tue. I did your old MB w/ gold class wash & a double NXT. Then they gave me the SUV as a bonus. Best of luck w/the S600 V-12 power ride. Enjoy!

            If ya saw the paint up close, you'd prolly want to go right for the rotary. But I'm nowhere near comfortable in my ability with a rotary, so it's the PC for me.

                That's a nice trade! engine is 493 hp, right? Air suspension - which means you never worry about a rough ride...I sure wanna trade in my 2000 3.2TL for a S-class.

                  It was the year before they put the twin turbochargers on em, so it's only about 365 hp, with around 395ft/lbs of torque. But believe you me, that car will get up and MOVE!

                  Yes the air suspension is awesome. When I get to a driveway that has a bump in it from the road, I press a button, the car raises an inch, I press it again, it raises another inch.
                  This car came with every option available, it is unbelieveable.

                  Has the distronic feature on it which works in conjunction with the cruise control and will maintain a driver preselected distance from a vehicle in front of you, and will even apply up to 25% of the vehicles braking power if need be. I drove from Minneapolis to Chicago two weekends ago, and never touched the gas pedal or brake pedal for about 200 miles of the trip.
