  • A couple of the latest SHINE jobs

    The ol' 46 Plymouth IS GONE. A friend of a friend dropped it off at my house to store it in my back yard. He kept it insured and paid me $75 a month to keep it. I had permission to drive it as most and to anywhere I wanted.

    I saw the owner when he dropped it off and didn't see him for over a year until the day he came to pick it up. I got a $75 check in the mail every month, never a day late.

    My name wasn't on the title but I loved it like my own.

    This pass weekend I went crazy detailing it. --

    Here is something a little unusual for us.

    This is a 48 foot race car trailer. Our job was to peel off all the decals, remove any remaining glue and polish the panels. This stuff isn't paint but coated aluminum. The coating is kind of a plastic.

    At $600 I majorly under bid this one but it came out great!

      Excellent work on the trailer Joe.

      Mighty good lookin' Plymouth there too! ....Saved it to the HD.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~
      Just curious, do you enjoy detailing your own cars as much as you do your customer's vehicles?
        I enjoy my cars much more. I do a little extra on my cars as well. Every year I put my wifes car up on jack stands and detail the underbody! Hows that?
          Well, I guess that certifies you as being "Car Crazy".
          I might try that myself one day. Looks like a good way to gain better access to the wheel wells too.
              WOW!!! Looks great!!
              Can you tell me the process/products used for the removal of the decals?
              If you had to requote it, what would you have charged?
                Joe--Is that the same Plymouth that you had detailed a while back which was in very bad shape but had a grey metallic color?? Or is this a totally different vehicle? They appear the same to me that is why I was curious. Thanks,
                  The decals on the trailer were EXTEMELY HARD to remove. We had heat guns, adhesive remover, gasoline, you name it.
                  I charged for about 6 to 7 hours of work and two of us ended up taking 10 + hours. I would charge a cool $1000 if I had to do it all over again.
                      I love the color of that 46 Plymouth. I'm dreaming of the day that my 50 looks like that. Thanks for some inspiration.
                        Joe,
                        Im interested in the trailer. What was it made of? It was an aluminum trailer? Fiberglass? What was the finish on it? What products did you use?
                        Turned out great!
                        $600!?!?! Ouch! Too big a trailer for such a small price.
