    Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to share the results of a car show that my dad, brother and I entered last weekend. The show was an "all-car" event sponsored by Vapor Trail Corvette Club in Santa Maria, CA. My brother brought his '68 GTO, my dad had his '57 Corvette (more about this car later), and I drove my '70 Corvette. There were 200 cars entered, with 100 Corvettes.

My 1970 Corvette won 1st in Class!
My Dad's 1957 Corvette won 1st in Class and Best of Show!

    Here are some pics!

    Congratulations Mark a family!

I don't think I've ever see your dad's Corvette or your brother's GTO but if they're anything like your Corvette they are top notch!

My 1970 Corvette didn't need much prep, since I waxed it recently. My daughter sprayed it with NXT Speed Detailer, and gave it some Hot Shine on the tires. I followed with a coat of NXT on the paint applied with the PC.

My dad's 1957 Corvette was another story.....the car has been in storage for over 30 years, and it's in unrestored condition. It has been through a couple of large earthquakes, with stuff falling on it within the garage. The paint is porous, oxidized and soft...not really a good starting point. My dad "helped" prep the car with 320 grit sandpaper and Comet cleanser (OMG!!), so I had a big job ahead of me. I only brought my PC, some #80 and NXT wax with polishing and finishing pads, so I was not expecting very good results.

The car was already washed, so we used
      - Meguiar's C2000 Detailing Clay followed by
      - #80 then
      - NXT Liquid Wax
      - My daughter applied Hot Shine to the tires

The results weren't spectacular, but they were a HUGE improvement over the starting point. Here are some more pictures:

        Hey Mike,

Well you're up late working on the board!! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!

My brother's GTO has excellent paint with original interior in good condition. It's a real head turner.

My dad's car is in okay shape, but it's unrestored, so it received lots of attention! I think it's a 30-40' car (looks shiny), but you can see many flaws as you get closer. The 'patina' certainly caused many people to spend time examining the car, and look at all the original pieces still in place. Someday, I think my dad would like to paint it.

Wow, a blower on a '57 fuelie? Out of curiosity, what does that do to the collectable value of an unrestored '57 fuelie? Would the car be worth more without it? Is it pretty sweet with it? More details!

The '57 is unrestored, but not entirely original. I believe the original induction system was a dual quad setup (which my dad still has). I'm not sure what the original transmission was, but when my dad got the car, it had a Hydra-Matic 4-speed which has since been beefed by B&M. I'm sure if this was an original fuel injected '57, any changes from stock would hurt the collectable value. The way it's setup now, it sure increases the "fun" value, though!!!

Thanks Bob!! I think Corvettes are pretty cool.....new or old!! (even if they aren't red......heh heh )

BTW, this was the first time that my dad ever entered his car in a show.
