Hey my name is mark. i have been looking on this website for around 2 months now and just now creating a account. I have always been an eagle one man, but until i used one meguiars product it has changed my detailing. i'm not a professional by any means nor do i do it for a living. but i'm here to show off my truck a little and i have a question about the PC. i've already bought
    -speed glaze
    -backing plates
-the foam pads that come in the 3. (From meg's site)
    -PC
    -NXT Wax
    -Grit guard
    -detailing truck organizer
-hella microfiber cloths (wal mart )

My question is when you are removing wax, polish, etc. with the gold class bonnet for the PC, do you keep the foam pad on and stretch the bonnet over? or just use the backing plate?

also 1 more, i've got very good paint, but i have the "cob web effect" on my paint. were the sun hits it and looks like alot of little scratch circles? what would remove those? btw here are some pics of my truck.

here is a pic after i got all my cadding painted to match

    Truck looks great so far.

The bonnet is kinfd of like a shower cap to put over the pad. However, you will want to use a clean pad, so that no product bleeds through. Many people actualy use a 7006 pad (reddish one) under their bonnets, as it is a little stiffer. You will only use the 7006 pad under a bonnet, do not apply product with it.

and for your second question, #80 is a mildly agressive paint cleaner and polish, that can rmove light swirls, and #83 is the more aggressive cleaner/polish for the PC. Yo uwill want to start with the #80, and see if it works. If not, then step up the the #83.

You would want your detail procedure to look like:

      1. Wash with Gold CLass, Nxt, etc...
      2 Clay with Quick CLay
      3. #80 with PC. If doesnt fix, then use #83.
      4. (Optional) #7 Glaze
      5. Nxt Wax - 2 thin coats for best coverage. I will mention that #21 is an excellent product for use with PC once your Nxt wax runs out. Bit of a toss up between them.

i have wal mart / target brand MF's and I also have 3 Meguiar's MF towels. I always always use the good meguiar's MF"s on my paint when removing product.

i use the wal mart / target brands for door jambs, engine bay, trunk, interior, etc.

wait for the professional's to chime in, because I'm sure not.

          oh to the truck

I use cheap ones for door jams, etc, and the Supreme Shine Microfibers for removing product from exterior paint.

Here is the link tothe 7006 pad:

so the speed glaze should get rid of my "cob web" effects via PC? should i remove by hand or bonnet?

Well, if #80 cant fix it, then use #83. If #83 cant fix it, it will only be fixed by a rotary, if anything. Between 80 and 83, you can solve most problems easily.

I dont think it matters if you remove by hand or PC, though some people say the PC leaves a little wetter look behind.

Really how much of a difference is their between a generic pack of MF's I buy at sam's and meguiar's or cobra's MF's?

Hey, I've seen your X around the X-forums. I just finished my first detail after browsing these forums for a while. I did the same thing that Murr1525 mentioned

Speed Glaze works best on the "5" setting, and I always work it in for a minute or so. But do not buff it dry.

Be sure to brush your pad as needed too.

I prefer a clean cotton terry towel to remove cleaners, or cleaner/polishes with. But I've heard of some guys using MF towels too.........If you go the terry towel way, you'll need more than one towel to do your vehicle with.

I doubt I would use a MF bonnet to remove anything with, except a wax.

                      Welcome to the forum, BTW!

Edit: I just added the word "one" above........I left it out earlier by mistake.

                        Hi Mark,

                        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Always place your microfiber bonnet over a clean, dry foam pad, either our W-8006 or our W-7006. The W-7006 works best as the foam is stiffer and more dense. Use the 5.0 setting.

If you place your bonnet over just the backing plate, you will probably harm both your paint and the bonnet.
