  • First Major Detailing ever, Done! Thanks Mike And eveyrbody else

I finished My First Major Detailing Today on my 1997 Chev truck, Which was done entirely by my to hands (Thanks to everybody who answer'd my questions I polute'd the forum with) Which is a Daily driver. And is outside 365 days a year in all the 4 Canadian Seasons. I started out doing.

    1. Washing with NXT Generation Deep Crystal Car Wash.
    2. Dry with Chamois.
    3. Clayed with Quik Clay System.
    4. Applied Scratch X To the worse of the scratchs.
    5. Applied Colour X To the entire Truck
    6. Applied NXT Generation Paste Wax

I have Before and After pictures. So bare with me if I mess this up.

This is a Picture of about 2 weeks of Not being washed and driven to the worksite. ( Don't Scream )

This is a Picture 6 hours later after eveything is said and done, Much better isn't it???

Scratchs and a large Scuff On the hood "Before"

    Hood " After "

A Nice Coat of NXT Paste to the hood

Some Scratchs on the box fender " Before "

    Box Fender " After "

    Here's a Nice Reflection shot

Some Bad scratchs on the TailGate " Before "

    TailGate Afterwards

Finally, The tools it took for the Job,

So what does everybody think? Please let me know ppl. Not as good as I could do with a machine, But not to bad by hand is it? There was a LOT of other scratchs all over the truck like the ones in the picture's Lots came out, The really bad ones are still there, But not as noticable. Give me your feedback everybody, I would like ti know what you think

And one question, Is there a more aggressive Clay then whats in the Quik Detail system?

Looks pretty good to me AJSP!

Not bad for a hand application!

Meguiars makes a more aggressive clay in their Detailer line, but what you have works petty good IMO.

Looks great! Thanks for taking the time to capture the before pictures to go with the after pictures and sharing them with our forum

We offer two more aggressive clays in our Professional Line, the Mild is okay to use but the Aggressive should only be used if you know for sure you're going to machine buff the paint afterwards.

Nice work. May not be perfect, but it is surely 100% better than before.

        Great job!

Thanks a lot guys. Do I need to machine buff with the More Aggressive Clay? I have some paint over spray that the Quik Detail Clay wouldn't remove.
I was amazed at the amount of scracths that came out. I got myself 2 more details to do, My fathers truck 1999 GMC, Been painted last fall, But Cover'd with swirls from car washed. I tried a small spot with the Scratch X and it did wonders, Every swirl Mark was gone. Unfortunatly it is raining here in, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada Today, So my fine detail on my truck is all wet. ANd I cant start the other one. Ill post picture's of that one also.

And again, Thanks a lot guys.Means a lot from you pro's to praise my job well done.

A lot of times, when you come across really stubborn above surface bonded contaminants, you can remove them with the clay in the Quik Clay System, you just need to spend more time working the clay over a smaller area and really focus on the task at hand.

If you like, you can order and use our Mild Clay in the Professional Line, but if the clay in the Quik Clay System isn't removing it, then it's still going to be tough to remove even with this clay.

Try again, working only small area, and work it a little longer then inspect.

I take it that the Mild Detailer Clay is a bit stronger than the Quik Clay System?

AJSP, Car looks much better. A little OT, but what is NXT Generation Deep Crystal Car Wash? I use the regular NXT Car Wash and like it alot, didn't know there was a DCC version also?

Yeah, there is a deep crystal car wash. Kind of a pink color, supposed to have lots of suds I think. But I'll stick with Nxt and Gold Class...

Meguairs has like 7 or so different car washes, all a little different, but all very good.

Its very nice to know it is " deep clean'd " as to just washed with what ever.

I had a buddy ask me where the rest of the scracths went that were on it

Is that the same truck before and after? It looks like the color changed!
