  • After detailing my girls car, it`s time 4 mine! Maybe long loading...

After a little detailing the roadster of my girlfriend and good results, I wanted to try out my new Meguiars products on my 2 1/2 years old Vauxhall Astra Turbo. It was a weekend job since saturday until right now... a lot of hours, but it was it worth! ;-)

    Used items:
    • Ultimate was mitt
    • NXT Shampoo
    • Scratch-X
    • Quik Detailer with regular clay
    • Ultra safe wheel brush
    • Versa-Angle wheel brush
    • Microfiber towel
    • Super terry towel
    • Different applicator pads
    • Slide lock detail brush
    • Water magnet towel
    • Deep Crystal paint cleaner
    • Deep crystal polish
    • NXT Tech wax
    • Gold class shampoo (only for wheel clean)
    • Quik detailer interior

Firts I washed the car and then I tried out the Quik detailer with 2 kinds of clay (from toy shop! lol). There where no results, I believe it was the reason of a useless clay, next time I will order quik clay. After that, I worked in the deep crystal paint cleaner and cleaned with special polishing "1-way" sheets. I got crazy as I saw that the old road dirt, mainly on the sideskirts etc, was not cleaned through the paint cleaner. Next step was the usage of Scratch-X on swirls (only a few) and resistant dirt and burnt in bugs. The dirt (mostly tar I believe) was again resistable, like you can see on 1 picture of my sideskirts below. I must live with this fact - its only a "non viewable" place. At least I cleaned my interior with quik interior detailer and my slide lock brush, which worked excellent. The first detailing day went to the end, and my fitness also! ;-)

On day two, today, I started to use the deep crystal polish. This time I used my terry towel to wipe away, worked also good but the terry towel is still linting extremely, also after washing. In this case I´m absolutely not satisfied with the product, but result and usage is still perfect. After polishing and 30 minutes of resting, I started the last step: My NXT wax which was already in use at my girlfiriends roadster. Also I used again the terry towel to polish the surface. Result was perfect. At least I used my slide lock brush to get lost of all polishing rests in any edges and curves of the car surface. I think the result is great, one bad touch is the surface contermination with a lot of spots of "anything" like tar or whatever. I think here could only help a special treatman from a specialist or the use of a machine... Overall, I´m happy to spend a lot of money (in germany around 2 times more expensive than in USA!) because the result is it worth. If the wax etc lasts long, I´m much more happy - but we will see! ;-)

Here are the pics of day 1:

          Thanks!

I think my description is wrong. I used the brand "Vauxhall" because its the british Version of the german brand "Opel" (belongs to GM). I believe the german Opel Astra is much more unknown in USA. For sure, the correct description ist: Opel Astra G OPC Turbo (its a sportscar edition of the regular one -> with different bodyparts etc and mainly more power... regular it is build with 200hp, after a little tuning I got now 220hp)

Nice job I really like the color of your car.

I think the Vauxhall is kind of like the Holden in Australia (Monaro/GTO) for us in the U.S., except GM doesn't plan on bringing that style over, as far as I know, which is a shame. I'm sure it'd sell well here.

Found an article about it and some of the other hatchbacks here.

                Ah, now I understand.

Cool car! I saw the Blitz and thought it was an Opel. (Even though I knew that Opel and Vauxhall are sister companies I was still confused before, thanks for explaining.)

Real German Opels were last sold here in 1975. Vauxhall is almost unknown in the US. They were sold in Canada but I don’t think they ever came to the US officially.

Cool car. Is that how it comes stock, or have you done body work to it? I really like the wheels. Rivet design is classic.

                    @Lt1Corvette:

On my car its a mixture of "stock tuning" and some work done by myself. For sure, the engine is from stock 2.0 Turbo 200hp, additional the rear spoiler, front spoiler, racing mirrors and sideskirts. Also there is carbon foil on the middle of car and black xenon lights. The interior is "from stock" special with leather steering wheel, metal pedals, recaro half-leather seats, metal gear knob. Also a small lowering suspension is build in with around 20mm and special wheels in 17".

I added a few other things:
                    - stainless steel exhaust, starting at catalyst
                    - rear bumper
                    - black backlights
                    - other 17" alloy wheels
                    - special stainless steel turbo tube in engine for more power
                    - sport airfilter
                    - hoodlifts
                    - blue carpet
                    - kenwood mp3 player

                    Thats all! :-)
