Yep, we build the GTO down here and sell it locally as the Monaro. It got sent to you guys a year or two after it was built here.
Holden is a division of GM, and has been around since the 1940s... It was bought out by GM in 1987.
Oh yeah it's great to drive. Extremely aggresive and has heaps of grunt..... I must admit though, Mr Meguiar spends more time on this car polishing it, than I do driving it!
Hail to gold class, that's all I can say. I love this stuff.
I am certainly not a GTO expert, but the front on the Monaro looks just a little diffent than the current GTO. I know the current GTO has added the hood scoops. I really like that car (the Monaro). Looks awesome in red (of course!).

Right you are.
Holden put a different nose on the car, and you guys also get the 6.0ltr engine as standard (same as in the corvette). We get the older LS1 (5.7ltr).

To answer your questions: 1) Yes! and 2) You bet!
Great ride! And I like the hood scoops, they now have them on the '05 GTO along with the 400HP LS2 6.0L.
I have an '04, which I am very happy with. The 5.7L LS1 has plenty of power, but there's something magical about 400HP. I wish I had those hood scoops too!
To show the difference in the front end, here's a pic of mine, with NXT Paste Wax:
I like the front end of the Monaro too! It looks better than the optional Sport Appearance Package grille on the '05.

Yes the bumper has two lights inserted, one for driving lights, and the other for parkers.
The headlights assembly looks like 3 lights, but they're used for indicators, projector high beam and standard headlights.
