  • Here it is

OK Guys, now that I can post pictures, the new trailblazer.

These pictures are after I put 21 on it. I wanted to get some protection on it.

The color is Majestic Red Metallic, great name for metallic red.
There are a few swrils and some water spots.

but the paint itself is in good shape.

These are when I first brought it home

The first pictures are after a wash with DP shampoo, Clay with Meguiar's clay, I think the old stuff, very sticky, white, works good, needs lots of lube, and then some #21.
It looks very good, but,,,,,,,,,,, not quite good enough for McGuire's, er,er, I mean Meguiars's, yea.

So guys, for new paint, what do YOU think. Go all out and try to get all the swrils and water spots out, or save the paint. Use a glaze?

    I'm open to all thoughts.
Sorry for the long post, got carried away being able to post pictures again.

Nice truck. Like that two tone together. I would go for it remove the light swirls/ spots. Do you own a D.A or rotary? If not, I bet some paint cleaner like scratch X will do the trick by hand. Followe it with a pure polish and then some wax. I preffer Show Car Glaze for polish, and eiether #26 or Nxt for Wax.

I've always been a fan of #80 (Using PC) when it comes to new paint.....If that doesn't remove the stains, then try ScratchX on the spots like Ranger mentioned above.

Thanks for the replys guys, yes I have a DA, and a Makita Rotary, and a slue of Meguiar's products, I was just wondering if you thought it worth it to go all out with the rotary and say #82, or #80, or just use #81, (my fav), with the DA more often, and save the paint, when the swirls appear. (which I don't mind, gives me something to do)
        You know what I mean.
        Thanks for your opinions.

Like the new ride! I have always liked the Trailblazer.

If you did use your rotary now, you know whos (you, I hope) taking care of the paint and you will be able to minimize the addition of any fine scratches or swirls, so... get it looking its best then just do the upkeep washing and detailing with the PC to maintain the look.

If you feel like your skills are up to it, then I guess a rotary with #80 would work well, but other than that, I would go with the PC/#80 combo.

            Nice vehicle BTW!

I may just go with the DA and some 82. The swrils are not bad enough to use the rotary.
This is my brothers truck that I used 82 and the rotary on but it had some bad swrils and heavy scratches. Finished with 21 as is the Trailblazer. (thanks again Mike, the stuff really goes a long way!)

              Thanks for the replys

                      Hey Mark,

Nice new ride! I really like the color!

My suggestion would be to clay, then use the rotary or PC and Meg's #80 Speed Glaze. Personally, I would use the rotary.

                        Thanks guys,

I need to do the carpets, and then I think I will go with the 80, and the PC. Rotary if needed, I will clay again also, and I think DC#1 as a paint cleaner. I also need to do the wheels, don't know to much about doing the new wheels.

Soap, water, and #21? Maybe a wheel cleaner? Polish?

                        2000
I think I might stay with the #21 (after Mike's sample runs out , thanks again Mike.) 15 and 22 whoops, sorry

Thanks, I like the color also, I'm still debating the PC, Rotary, will have to get some 80. What are your suggestions for the Rotary and 80, ie, after the pad is primed how much to use, pad, speed, etc. I'm not an expert, but I do ok for a beginner.

                        Thanks for all the replys

they are clear coated and I would treat them just like paint. use either #21 or nxt and that will help with clean up of any brake dust allthought most factory pads aren't that bad. you can also use a polish to help shine them up. I read in one of these threads that Mike said you can use nxt metal polish on clear coated rims but I haven't tried it yet. I'll see if I can find the thread.

                              Thanks 2000,
I was really lost on these wheels, I had no idea how to take care of them.

I think I am going to go with the #21 from now on. I find that it last longer than any other wax.

On another note, a friend of mine went to look at the truck I traded in that I had detailed with #21 and taken such good care of. They told him the reason it looked so good was that they had just got it back from THEIR detailer and he did the works. I wish I had a Meguiar's sticker to put in the window or somthing. Its amazing what a car salesman will tell someone.

Anyway, thanks again for your input, as always everyone on this forum is fantastic.
