Hello everybody. In another topic in detailing 101 shown here..
ok, time for me to know more about waxes. im looking into working on my computer case, which seems to be clear coated! whoa.... i did the polish test ( appl y polish to applicator pad, apply polish, then check pad. if the pad is the color of the paint, then it is a single stage paint, if not, then it is clear coat ) should i do

begins me explaining wondering about which wax is better. The two which i was comparing were the Nxt tech wax and a carnuaba wax. i had purchased some Turtle Wax Carnauba paste wax. the reason i chose that one is because on the package it said 100% carnauba blend. anyways. here are the pictures explaining my process. and the part that i am working on is the side panel without the window of my computer case.

    Here is the process!!!

ok here are the first few pictures, the first thing i did was evalutate.. did i need to clay? wash? what type of prodcuts do i need? well since it was indoors all the time, i knew it didn't need to be clayed. i had some leftover soap and water mixed up in a spray bottle from claying before so i just used that quickly. here are the shots showing the cobwebs that came on the paint when i bought it.

for these pics, i used both indoor light and the sun to show the defects. the sun showed the defects the best as illustrated.

Here you can see some scratches which i did on purpose with a mechanical pencil to see if i could take it out. i rubbed it over with a clean microfiber to show that in fact ehy were scratches and had to removed with a product..

i then followed by 2 passes with #80. the second time i did it , i pressed down quite hard and went outside to see the results and they were worse than when i had started. so i went back inside and applied #80 twice more but with less force than before and came out with this. The scratches i made with the pencil were also removed after all these passes. I think they were removed after the third pass but i don't remember for sure.

After that i applied Nxt tech paste wax on the left side and turtlewax 100% blend carnauba wax on the right side. the picture came out bad , sorry about that

Here is another closeup of the wax comparison. Can you notice a difference? i sure can't. Both were applied with two different clean foam applicator pads. I let the product dry/cure which took 20 minutes which i measured by the swipe test and took off most of the wax using a clean microfiber. i didn't completely remove it all as noticed on the sides because i was in a hurry because my girl wanted me to take her out.

Here is a nice reflection shot of the panel which was placed against my orange tree to show the other trees in my backyard and my neighbors house

You can go here for a higher resolution shot of the reflection or you can ask me for it and i will send you it via email or Aol instant messenger ( approx. 1 mb )

in the end for appearance, both waxes appeared the same but the carnauba wax turned out to be more supple and had more of a gloss feel than the nxt paste wax. Tomorrow i will be applying the same process to the rest of the computer and cleaning the glass with nxt glass cleaner

Is that a carrying case, or your actual computer tower?

Wow, no orange peel. Looks good, I still don't understand how a wax can be a "100% carnauba blend," doesn't blend mean that at least 2 things are included? Anyways, case looks great, glad to see I'm not the only one that details computers.
