  • DAAS RIGHT BABY! This is so much fun!

Friday we polished a car for a car show that was held this past weekend. We had to do the job in an underground garage!! I sure was happy that I had my xenon light on me. I wasn’t too confident about doing a complete polish in an under ground garage but.....Here is the email I just got---

    "Hi Joe,

Hope you had a good weekend. Here are some pics from the show. Took first place for the Passat Class. There's a show coming up in Fontana on 6/5, so I'll probably need a touch up just before then. The detail job looked great!."

Awesome feedback Joe, looks like another customer for life! How do you keep up?

    p.s.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I had to wet-sand, cut and buff a car in a parking garage with only a few florescent lights in the entire garage. I started at 6:00pm on a Friday night and worked all through the night and into the next day finishing at 1:00pm. Immediately afterwards, they placed the car on display outdoors, in full sun in the middle of a R&M Auction in Monterey, CA

      Mike,

How did you feel about them putting the car out in the sun after polishing it under those conditions??

I have done it a few times (polishing through the night) and it has biten me in the bottom once or twice. When that happens you have to skip breakfast and handle it.

Looks awsome Joe. Never knew people had show car passats. I know this has probabily been asked and answered a million times, but where is the best place to get the Xenon lights?

Lowes, There is a thread here on MOL somewhere about it. That is where I bought mine for about $24.00

I trust the name on the bottle, so I had confidence the results would reflect the quality of the ingredients inside. The worst part about this job was the paint was as hard as glass. I started out doing a Test Spot, just like I recommend here all of the time. I had to wet-sand the entire car and the paint was about 60 days old. It was painted back in New Jersey and full of dirt, runs and orange peel.

My test spot showed me that it was going to be a difficult buff-out because I didn't bring a wool pad with me, only Meguiar's foam cutting pads... and the scratches were not coming out easily.

I almost didn't did do it after two test spots because the paint was so hard and I had to be done by the next day. I sat down against a dark, concrete wall, looked at the car and ate a sandwich Lynn had made me while I was in Oregon and thought about it for a while. Then I decided to Just do it! and you know as well as anyone, once you start sanding you're committed.

I have done it a few times (polishing through the night) and it has bitten me in the bottom once or twice. When that happens you have to skip breakfast and handle it.
I'm pretty sure I did a three-step rotary buffer process on this finish, I used M16 as my LSP after an initial coat of M20. I did take some pictures, but I think they're on floppy discs in a box full of floppy disks. That's another way of saying these pictures will never see the light of day. (Sony Mavica Camera).

I think the fender skirts on this Lincoln are about 9' long...

Thanks. I remeber seeing that thread now, point in fact you wrote it. I think I will pick one up, I am sick of having to pull the cars in and out of the garage to see what the product is doing.
                Thanks
