  • Sublime Green Challenger Hellcat Cquartz Finest New Car Protection - Tampa, FL

The owner of this Sublime Green Hellcat opted for our Ultimate Cquartz Finest New Car Prep service which includes a full paint correction, XPEL Ultimate Clear Film on the front nose cone and Cquartz Finest to keep everything protected and easy to maintain. We also removed the wheels to apply Cquartz Finest to the wheel faces and inside barrels, as well as the brake calipers.

This Hellcat was in good company!

    Pre-Inspection

The car had some minor defects and swirls that needed to be corrected.

There was also a "film" over the entire vehicle, I could only come up with it possibly being a layer of adhesive from the plastic that is used to protect the vehicle during transit from the factory. It shows up as tiny specs or dots in the paint surface, which made the paint look a dull. Luckily, it was removed in the polishing step and made for a dramatic change in gloss.

    Multi-Step Paint Correction

There were a few spots on the car where something was rubbing on the finish creating dull spots and scratches.

Now safely removed after paint correction.

Some even worse were found across the roof near the windshield.

Also, safely removed after paint correction.

Below are a few photos that show the defects in the paint removed after the first stage of correction. The paint will still be refined even further with additional steps of polishing for the most clarity in the clearcoat possible.

    Wheels Off Cquartz Finest Application
This is a very popular option, especially with our sports car enthusiasts. Each wheel is carefully removed from the vehicle, cleaned inside and out, then protected with two coats of Cquartz Finest. This makes general maintenance of the wheels a much easier task, as the brake dust can be easily washed away instead of embedding into the wheel finish.

As you can see the Hellcat is pretty notorious for heavy brake dust coming from it large Brembo brake system.

Cleaned, prepped and protected with Cquartz Finest.

Cquartz Finest works amazingly well on matte surfaces. It maintains the matte finish, while giving it a very rich look and great durability, even in a harsh environment such as the wheels.

The calipers receive the same treatment as the wheels to protect the powder coat finish. The inner liners and wheel arches are also cleaned and dressed. Before.

    After.

    Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film

Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film was applied to the nose cone to protect against road debris and rock chips. Sorry, again on a time crunch and short on hands, so I wasnt able to take photos during the install. Yes, the car does have clear film in all the following photos!

    Looks really nice!

I didn't know that CQuartz Finest did not impart any gloss...

Can someone explain to me how something like this CQuartz stuff works? Do you clean, polish, wax, and then coat the car with it? Is it just a harder wax product? Does it protect from micro marring? I've got a black Mustang and no matter what, I get those very fine looking spiderweb looking scratches on it. Would something like this CQuartz stuff protect the paint and keep that from happening?

ETA: Nice work on the car! The paint looks wet in the after photos!!!

Some very interesting paint damage on this car......you mentioned that this was your "new car prep" package - was this truly a "new car" or had the owner been having some fun with it already? If it indeed is brand new, this is just another example of how your brand new car does not necessarily have "perfect paint".

Thanks! Cquartz Finest certainly does add a considerable amount of gloss. Its easy to see with your own eyes, but can be hard to capture on camera going from perfectly polished paint(which already looks amazing) to a coated surface.

I have had a few clients watch some of the process and they have told me they could visually see the difference very easily once it was applied compared to when it was just bare polished paint.

I am out on a mobile job currently, but i can explain more once i get back to my pc. In short, it is much harder and more durable than the standard wax or sealant.

Yeah, i thought it was interesting as well. I consider anything under 1000 miles for my "new car" prep service, however the owner did have it for a short period of time before i got my hands on it. With that said, he told me he only washed it once and the defects in this car didnt look like anything the client may have caused. My bet is that it occurred during the transport/delivery process. Good news is that it is now fixed and better than new!

The short answer: It helps protect
The long answer: It is a quartz based ceramic coating (SiO2). It is a semi permanent protection but it still requires proper washing techniques be used with it to prevent scratches, though it does make it less prone to scratching.

As far as application process the car has to be compounded/polished to perfect prior to applying. Any defects left in the paint will be locked in under the coating. Then the surface is wiped down with a prep spray to remove any polishing oil or dirt that would otherwise prevent proper bonding. Finally the coating is applied and left to cure for 24 hours generally. Application isn't the easiest as leveling out high spots can be difficult without proper lighting etc.

Coated cars tend to stay cleaner for longer and are protected for the next 24 months or so depending on what coating was applied. With CQUK I have seen in increase in gloss as well.

Oh ok, when you said it works well on matte surfaces, I thought you meant it kept the matte look, thus not imparting gloss.

So those matte wheels got a bit shinier?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about on the painted surfaces. With matte finishes, I wouldnt say it adds gloss, but it does give the surface a richer look. I have never had any complaints, in fact most people comment on how much better it looks after its coated.

Re: Sublime Green Challenger Hellcat Cquartz Finest New Car Protection - Tampa, FL

This sounds like what I need for my car. I bought my car new in April 2014, and as of this week, I only have 6800 miles on it. I don't daily drive it and it stays in the garage, never driven in the rain. It's black. I use the two bucket wash method. I've had to polish and wax it several times in the past year of ownership to make it presentable for car shows.

How much should a top notch professional detailing and application of something like this CQuartz stuff cost me if I were to have it done?
Not to steal from up thread, but here is my car:

It's not cheap. It varies by area but it could be anywhere between $500-$1000. Some places out here in California charge even more. There are quite a few coatings that are user friendly.

GLOCKer, it sounds like you're pretty 'hands on' with your car detailing, so I'd suggest you just do it yourself.

If you want to take the hands-on approach, I would highly recommend Cquartz UK, which anyone can purchase and apply themselves. Its certainly not as easy as applying your traditional wax or sealant, but once you get it right, you will be amazed! Cquartz Finest is a pro only product, cost can vary quite a bit depending on actual condition of car, location, etc. You can find an installer in your area using the link below if your curious.
