Just took the time to take pics today and the other day, here it is freshly detailed. Many thanks to Mike's lessons during the MB Detail Day. Enjoy!

I hope you like them! Any comments welcome. Sorry for the poor quality, I have yet to find a good site that will host images. Thanks for looking!

Edit: Forgot to mention: I used Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner and Polish months before (alongside and waxing) and that darkened the shine. Recent applications: washed, clayed , then used #7, and Gold Class wax.

I remember your car, I think I mentioned that it would make a great before and after makeover! Looks like it did! Great work, outstanding results!

Nice ride! I got 234k on mine. Try #26 over #7 instead. It's a better wax IMO.

            Thanks everybody! I used:

Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner to clean it (this was months before)
            Clay bar
            Deep Crystal Polish
            Meguiar's #7 Sealant/Glaze
            Gold Class wax

Mike, I still need to remove them swirls, but I'll get to them!

Here are more pics (larger sized ones, finally!). That way you can appreciate the detail ...

                  Hi Paul,

Thanks! The whole grille + hoodstar are new, but the front bumper I just cleaned. It's been like that since I got it. But right after drying it, there are some hazy marks. But once dry it those hazy marks go away.

All these are done by the best instruments you can find---your hands. Have a safe flight!

Schmoney, can't wait to see your car images for the Detail Contest on W123-World! Your black W123 should be a good candidate for mirror reflections!

MB300d, so far #7 has been the best! I wonder how #26 would be now that you mentioned it! By the way is #7 a wax? I remember it's a sealant/glaze only (pure polish?). Thanks

From what I know, #7 is only a glaze. This will improve gloss and fill some fine scratches or imperfections. It has no sealant or polish qualities. Therefore it provides very little protection(wax or sealant) and does not chemically clean (paint cleaner/Deep Crystal) or physically remove any scratches (cutting polish/#80, #83). Also, the Gold Class is a cleaner wax, which has some chemical cleaners in it, which might remove some of the #7. How much of it??? I don't know. #26 is a wax and is purely a last step product (LSP) with no cleaners. I think #26 will compliment #7 well. #26 is a very durable wax also and will last longer than Gold Class IMO. #26 will also darken the paint a little and deepen the reflections. I feel on a classic like the 300D, the nice warm glow from #26 will be very nice. I'll try to send/post a pic of my car. It has some #26 on it.

                    John

I thought GC wax has polishing properties instead of cleaning? If memory serves #7 indicates it's a sealant/glaze. Hmm, I guess I'll research more on this and try to better my system. Summer is so close so I'll focus waxing the hood, roof and trunk more than the sides.

I hope the contest is not over! I'll have time to clean it this week! How you get your wheels so clean?

Schmoney, since the paint from my wheels is gone (they have that industrial look when clean) I just use Simple Green and wash it after spraying and degreasing. Yesterday I removed some air off my tires from 35 to 33 psi and saw that the front wheels were so dirty already! Just a week after I cleaned them! These brakes are really powerful even after 22 years and the rotors being solid discs. When I do get them repainted I'll probably get something more suited for them (P21S or the likes of those wheel cleaners).

Can't wait to see your black W123!
