  • Jeep Wrangler detailed

So I detailed this Jeep, and just as expected it required somewhat of a specialized approach due to the different surfaces on the vehicle..

Paintwise, it showed up like this. Waterspots everwhere + minor swirls.

1st thing I did was attack the big tires. This is when I had a small moment of frustration.. Not only where these the biggest tires I've had to clean, but they where also the dirtiest.. And having just ran out of Super Degreaser all I had to work with was APC 4.1. Each tire took 4 go arounds of scrubbing and took almost an hour of my time.. Then I tried to clean up the spare tire, but the APC simply wasn't able to cut through the caked on layer of exhaust fumes on it. I got a bit frustrated at this point. I should've had Super Degreaser on hand..

So next up was a full handwash, with special attention to the canvas top which took 4 go arounds of scrubbing/rinsing before my washmitt showed it a finally clean. Meanwhile my cat showed her approval of the tires cleanliness..

Watch out! Here comes the Hyper Dressing! Lol.

Next I polished the oxidized plastic windows on the top with M205 and while they didn't turn out completly perfect, they deffinetly saw inprovment. Plus it was a nice surprise when the customer saw it. From there I hit the interior with APC and a soft brush. Clean.

After spending alot of time tackling all the oddball surfaces of this Jeep it was finally time to polish the paint. And true to the rest of this vehicle it presented an oddball I wasn't expecting. Single stage paint._.
I was at the point where I couldn't afford any setbacks and needed to work as fast as possible to finish b4 dark.. I stuck to my guns and put my trust in my test spot. D151 w/polishing pad turning green. Results were good.

End results looking good. Water spots gave way to a deep gloss.. If I had more time and had known it was going to be single stage paint, it would've been nice to have tried some #7 Glaze on it. Thx for reading

Looks great. I'm surprised you don't have D143 in your arsenal. That would have worked on those tires. Something to add to your collection.

      Thx Guz.
Reading the info on D143 says it's not to be used on bare aluminum wheels. Are those wheels on the Jeep bare aluminum? It also says not safe for anodized wheels.. So it wouldn't be safe on these wheels?

I'm not sure if I like the idea of having to worry about whether I can or can't use a product..

Factory OEM wheels have clear coat and D143 is safe on those wheels such as that chevy wheel. The wheels on the jeep look like bare aluminum. With every product it is always a good idea to do a test spot.

In the end it looked great tho. What did u use for dressing in the trim and tires? Hyper dressing??? I have a sample of that I finally got to try out but I don't think I like it on the tires as I was parking near a curb and actually hit it and it rubbed the shine right off. Product was dry of course. But other than that little mishap I love the products shine/ sheen as I didnt dillute it.

That older Jeep turned out great Eldorado! That is a tall vehicle. Especially enjoyed the cat shot Always good to have a helper lol. As long as they aren't getting paw prints on your clean ride.

Great job on the Jeep. I won't do one BECAUSE of all those funky angles ... as for the cat, my ex-mother in law had a family of strays living in her garage where I parked my Camaro for the winter ... they seemed to have great fun sliding down the slippery as heck hood of my car when they jumped down from the rafters, leaving long "skid marks" in the paint.

Thx for the compliments. Really appreciate it

And yea I spend alot of time thinking of how to attack this vehicle in the days prior, as I knew it would present lots of funky angles and surfaces..

As for the dressings.. I used Hyper Dressing 1.1 on the tires [spray & walk away] Same for the wheel wells & undercarriage. Ultimate Black sponge for the trim above the tires, running boards, mirrors and everywhere else black plastic.. D4510 Plastic&Vinyl Coating on the front bumper. I even took off the licence plates and spray painted the trim black in order to cover up the used car dealer advertisment.. I've got a pet peeve about people having the wrong trim on thier plates and the black seemed to match the new look. She loved that I did that!

                  Great work!

Nice to see your workmate was doing a great job on top of the tires! Lol I used to have a cat employed as my helper when I detailed professionally. He was always making me smile with his crazy antics. Made the jobs a little easier with some of his comic relief!

Yea she's pretty funny.. I didn't see her for a bit while I was cleaning the interior. But when it came time to start polishing I found her asleep on top of my detailing cart! Lol. She looked too comfortable so I let her stay.. I had to relocate my stack of clean microfibers, but that was no biggie

Clean microfibers sound like a great place to sleep!

                        Great work Eldorado!

Back when I had my first car, we had a kitten who used to like to sleep on top of the tires too. The car was a sedan, so it didn't have the ride height of the Jeep and we couldn't see her up inside the wheel arch.

Anyway, one day I jumped in the car and started reversing down the driveway and *THUMP*... sure enough, she rolled off the tire as it rotated and then the tire ran her over! Amazingly she survived!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

@Selectchoice. It's funny what you said about microfibers.. Because these towels have been laying here for the past couple days since my last wash, and she's turned this spot into her cozy spot. Lol.

Cat sleeps for hours on microfiber[normaly this would be a no no, but they're going into the washing machine anyways lol]
