  • Finally detailed my BMW Jet Black e92!

First of all, I don't know how you older gentlemen do it, I'm in my early 20s and it was a workout. My back is killing me lol, well worth it though.

Huge thanks to SMACK for his guidance and tips, thanks my friend! And thank you Mike Phillips, I think I read every single article you have written before I tackled this job. :urtheman:

List of steps that were taken/ products used:
-Washed using the 2 bucket method with Dawn dish soap
    -Clayed, Meguiars Clay kit
    -Meguiars DA g110v2
-WG Total Swirl Remover w/ LC CCS orange pads
-WG Finishing Glaze w/ LC CCS white pads
    -WGDGPS

With that said, on to the pics! Let me know what you guys think. Excuse the phone pics, I was too tired to grab my dslr.

    First obligatory 50/50 shot

Very nice work, congrats. Nothing looks as good as well maintained black car.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Looks fantastic... and with how hard a BMW clear coat is, I am sure that didn't come without a great deal of work.

Seems like you like the WG line - I'd recommend their clay lube as well. It's my favorite so far. Also, just put a coat of their Fuzion wax as a topper on my wife's SUV and it is pretty sweet.

Jet black has extremely soft clear.

Interesting... The articles I had read always referred to BMW as having hard clear coats. Do the non-metallic finishes just have softer CCs than the metallic options?

I agree but boy is it a pain lol. As soon as I pulled it out of the garage I got a coat of dust all over it since it was windy out here in the desert.

I'm guessing a harder clear coat takes more time or more aggressive compounds to achieve good results?

Either more aggressive or it takes more passes to get the desired correction / swirl remover. My dads 550 was a pain but my Jeep is fairly easy.

I'm in Phoenix, and drive an Onyx black Lexus, so I completely understand.
