      Nicely done E

You had your work cut out for you and your boy!

Couple questions though. As meticuious as you are and the great work you do how come your using a sponge and you don't use the 2 bucket wash system?

Looks like Blue Point 2 ton aluminum jacks stands

Wow, incredible work and write-up, thanks for sharing!

Opel makes some nice cars these days, shame the owner of this one treated it like a dog kennel.

First, thank you for your feedback.

            Then to your Q's:
1: This spounge does not inflict any more scratches then a wash mitt does. Belive me, I have tested this. IF prewash is done properly, I dont see any problem...
2: Well, almost same answer, and I knew I had to compound the whole car, so didn't bother to use 2BM.

Thanks for your nice words, replies like that gives boost to solder on.
Well, dogs don't use a vacuum cleaner, so it's up to us humans to fix the problem... lol.

That is possibly the best documented detail I have ever seen! Outstanding job! You turned it into a daily driven show car!
I love to see cars, or variations of cars we don't get here in the states. We only get a sedan, and its sold as a Buick.

                Fantastic job and write-up.

Great work and documentation! I've been using a similar sponge for years, cheap and safe on soft clears.

                    Hey E
I quess I stand corrected, I've been studing and searching about the different types or sponge's for washing paint. And I'm surprised! I quess that as long as the sponges like mitts or chenille wash mitts(as I use) are plush and have deep naps and ARE NOT dense sponges and that are fully soaked before use and rinsed during washing then it doesn't matter. My thought are that I know the fibers in sponges itself is gently on paint but it's the fact that the tiny grains of sand/dirt getting pulled into the sponges openings can inflect the scratch and swirls. But I too use a foam gun with Meguiars super soap to help loosen and release the particles before the wash process but always look into my 2nd wash bucket of the pure water with the grit gaurd in , and it still amazes me at how much dirt is in the bottom of the bucket.

Seen a guy do a test/review with a grout sponge and used a cd disk while using cross patterens and back and forth motion, he said and showed pics with no scratches. May go get a couple and try it out for my self on a old cd disk and see how I like using them, time for another wash mitt anyways. Again E nice job and you just might have made be switch over to a sponge.

Best documented, that's a huge statement! What can I say, but thanks a million!
Gives me boost to continue detailing.

I do believe you have the right kind of spongethere, but not sure since I use another brand sold here in Norway.

Hi there. No need to stand corrected, I to hesitated the idea of using a spounge, but got convinced after trying it out. If i'm facing a full compound, I won't hesitate a second to use such a spounge.

This is the best one in the US, tested by countless people, sold in a home improvement store called Lowes. At $2 each, I'll use 3 at a time on a car that isn't getting corrected.
