  • My Latest Detail

    Hi All,

I recently detailed this Chevy Blazer (Early 90's model) for a friend in Spartanburg, SC.

My friends sister was nice enough to take some shots with her DC and e-mail them to me.

This SUV had been repainted a while back with an ecomomy paint job, and the finish had been neglected (By MOL standards) since then.

    My recipie was as follows.....
    • Wash with Gold Class Shampoo.
    • Clay with Quik Clay....I used Final Detail w/ distilled water at a 50/50 mix for a lube.
    • #80 w/W- 8006 pad @ 5 setting on PC.
    • 1 coat of NXT w/W-9006 pad @ 4 setting.
    • I used Hot Shine in the spray bottle on the tires.

I started my buffing with # 83/ W-7006 combo on the hood, but I didn't like the looks of it due to some mico marring.....The #80/ W-8006 combo worked well together, after I switched to it.

This vehicle had some paint defects on the side that I was able to level out somewhat, making them much less noticeable. The before pictures would have shown some of this (That I took w/ my 35mm), but I did not get them developed in time.

I really enjoyed the time I spent on this detail, and the (DC) pictures came out great too. (Thanks Ingrid!)

I forgot to tell my friends sister to take a close up hood shot, but you can see the gloss real good here.....The top surfaces were badly oxidized before, but #80 and the PC changed all that on this single stage finish!

My friend (Eric) keeps the finish looking good with Final Detail.

I forgot to mention that there was a lot of paint overspray on the front of the hood & elsewhere....I first thought it was rock chip damage, but the clay began to pull this off, so I continued to clay this area until the overspray was eliminated.
