  • Waxworks detailed... Lauren Renee

It has been quite a while since I posted anything here in the showcase.

Over a 7 day timeframe, I prepped my 2006 Mustang GT, Lauren Renee, for the 29th annual Mustang and American Iron car show sponsord by the Mustang Car Club of New England. The event was held at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough.

Day 1: I foamed her down with my pressure washer and foam gun, using Zep's Blue Marvel in the gun, then washed her via the two bucket method, again using Zep's Blue Marvel. I used a combination of waffle weave microfiber drying towels and my leaf blower to dry the car.

Day 2: I detailed the engine bay. it was pretty clean to begin with, so the bulk of the work was going over the "nooks and crannies" to get out any dust and pollen from previous road trips

Day 3: I gave the interior a through vacuuming. I cleaned the leather seating surfaces using a 20:1 solution of Woolite. I used Folex on the carpeting and mats and detailed the interior surfaces using Meguiar's Interior QD. I placed paper mats over the carpets and mats to protect them. The interior glass was cleaned using Stoners Invisible Glass.

Day 4: I went over the paintwork with Meg's #34 final inspecion and applied put a fresh coat of Meguiar's #21 synthetic sealant X2 to make sure that the paintwork was protected. The glass was cleaned with Stoner's IG and the windshield reated with RainX.

Day 5: after the Meg's #21 had cured; the paintwork was topped with Meguiar's #26 Hi tech yellow wax.

Day 6: The wheels were coated with Megs #21, the tires were coated with Meg's Hot Shine, then buffed to a satin like sheen

When I got to the show site (it's 7 miles from the Casa DaGonz), I went over the car with Meguiar's #34 final inspection QD, Meguiar's Interior QD, Meguiar's Wheel QD, and Stoner's Invisible Glass to take car of anything picked up from the road, then used my Dustbuster to go over the carpets one last time before having the car judged.

The hard work paid off, I took the gold (1st place) for my vehicle class (stock, 2005 to 2011).

    Lauren Renee and her trophy...

Congrats on having the hard work pay off!!! And before anyone jumps DaGonz for placing this trophy on the hood of his car, we're pretty sure it has a felt liner on the base and that he just gently set it down to take the pic. (we know how you guys are about this sort of thing! )

Michael, you are correct, the trophy does have a felt liner, and it was ever so gently placed upon the hood.. and the spoiler for the second shot.
This is the 6th award I have won for the car, but the first one for a 1st place finish.

I have been a member of the Mustang Car Club of New England since 2007 I am also a member of the Silver Mustang Registry (open to owners all silver and gray Mustangs) and the Gray Mustang Registry.

The next MCCNE show is at the Auburn Mall, Auburn, MA on August 18th, 2013.

        Congratulations and good work!

The Mustang looks impeccable, and you must be proud to be recognised for it.

I'm glad you & Mike cleared that up about the trophy - I was thinking the exact same thing!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
