  • '04 Scratchy, Smelly Honda Pilot Nicely Detailed MF/D300/D301

So here we have a "Mom Taxi" that was scratchy and smelly. They parked it at the airport for a week and when they came back it had a sour milk smell.
So the Carpet extractor was a must and then she opted to get it polished.
So a full detail was on the menu.

    Wash:
Meg's Shampoo Plus and Contaminates removed via Sir Speedy Prep Wash Mit as I washed. (saves so much time doing it this way)
    Rims:
Meg's Wheel Brightener, power washer & Hyper Dressing 2:1 mix.

    Paint Correction:
After a few trials I ended up with Meg's MF Cutting pad and D300. And after Meg's Thursday Night Open Garage I went with D301 Finishing wax to give it it's final shine.

    Interior:
Carpet extractor with Meg's APC Plus as needed.
    Croftgate Odor Remover.

    Before Pictures:

I've seen finger nail scratches before but there must be a thousand here!

And here's the culprits of the scratches. Bikes and 8 little girls! As I was evaluating the car one of them was actually writing on the drivers door with a stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    mmmm, can you smell it?

    here's the after pics

Here's Video of the icky stuff that came out of the carpets

WOW!!! First thing...outstanding job! This is crazy to see. I posted earlier about small scratches on a car but after seeing this...I think I was just a little to scared to put some "passion" into it. Amazing work again man I am really impressed. You got all those scratches out with mf cutting pad and d300 on a DA?

        Incredible work Mario. Truly outstanding.

        That was a paint revival.

Wow that thing was hammered! Great Job!

With D300 and the MF cutting discs did you notice hazing afterwards on the usually soft Honda paint? I know D301 on a finishing disc usually clears thing up, but just curious as I have had issues with Honda paint in the past.

This wasn't soft paint at all. I had to work the heck out of it. There was no hazing as you can see in the pics.

^^^^ LoL. You always come up with some good ones John!
And actually this paint came out bright and deep with color then you can see in these pics. My camera suxs but soon I'll get a pro camera.
This is the reason I worked so hard to get the paint almost perfect. But the Burgundy color was deep and vibrant. I was going to use Black Wax on this but due to the amount of defects Nick and I agreed D301 would polish it out nicely, and it did!

Wow, most of the Hondas I have worked on had soft paint. Good stuff.

Are you talking sedans? This is an SUV so maybe they paint these different.
And what/how are you calling paint soft. Just so we can get on the same page. This paint reacted to fast arm speed and the MF system which isn't easy on paint so I'm saying it's hard paint.
