  • Detailed: Davey's Garage Queen

    This car is always garaged and always clean. It's an MY09 Holden Commodore SSV.

    I perform maintenance details (washing, claying, QD, waxing etc) on her regularly, but she hasn't had a full detail in about 2.5 years! There were a few light towelling marks on her, so I decided to give her the full treatment this past weekend.

    I spent about 14 hours over 2 days.

    - Washed with Gold Class, 2BM and Meguiars MF mitt;
    - Clayed with Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit;
    - Ultimate Compound via Megs G220 DA and Megs yellow 5.5 inch pad;
    - M205 via Megs G220 DA and Megs black 5.5 inch pad;
    - 2 coats of M21.

    I didn't take any before or during shots, but I walked back into the garage the next day and was stunned by how good the paint looked (probably the best its ever looked), so I had to snap these shots. Taken with my iphone 5, so quality could be better, but you get the idea..

    Thanks for looking and let me know what you think!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

    Sweet looking ride, Davey!!! The perfect paint makes it even look better. The black paint looks a mile deep and extremely wet! Amazing work!!! Thanks for sharing!

    I love M205. It's a great finishing polish especially when used with the black finishing pad after the initial compounding step. It produces a flawless and stunning finish. Your work is a prime example of this statement.

    Also, what 5.5" pads does Meguiar's have?

      Excellent job! Looks flawless!

      Only problem is, it makes mine look underdone now, so I guess I will have to get busy...lol

      And don't forget you can remove your rego sticker now.

            Nicely done. 14 hours well spent.

            Really like your rims! Nice configuration.
            What process do you use on them?

              Looks fantastic.

              I need to do mine as well. It has been about 2 years or so for me as well for an intensive detail.

                Yeah, I heard something about that new rule. But I assumed I would have to let this registration period expire first. I will definitely not be putting a sticker on it in future if I don't have to!

                Thanks! The rims were already in very good condition. So I just washed them with the GC soap and then hit the chrome lip with some ColorX.

                  No, you're fine to take it off now. It started from 1 January this year. I haven't taken mine off yet either, but it's on the list for this weekend.

                            Nevertheless, if I get a chance and if the weather is nice this weekend, I will do just that.

                              Just came across this thread - that Pontiac G8...er, Holden Commodore, looks fantastic, Davey! Love the deep, clear reflections in this hood...er, bonnet shot:

                              I like you wheel choice here, too. Great looking car, and it must be fun to really cut loose in it!
