  • Pa's XXXX year Ford Ranger

    I did a simple process
    1) wash
    2) clay
    3) UC
    4) UQD (First 3 steps went into night and wanted to get the dust off)
    5) Lexus Gold Wax
    6) UQW (for that extra shine and water beadingness)

This time I took some before pics!

One Question I have is what could I use for the tires and trim (both plastic and chrome)?

Looks like it shined up well. any red on your pads?

The chrome trim you can wax.

The tires and black trim have a few options. If you wanted the same thing for both, you would probably want something like All Season Dressing or Hyper Dressing.

The Ult. Black / Ult. Protectant is good for trim, but not as much for tires. Could look at the above products just for tires, or any of other tire shines... there are a few in gels, and sprays.

Surprisingly I did not get red on anything!

Considering it hasn't been washed in years I'm surprised it was in the condition it was in, when I clayed it hardly anything showed up on the clay I was wondering if it was even worth using the QD as a lubricant.

Thanks for the tips I'll take a look at the stuff when I get a chance.

Well, if the paint is clearcaoted, you wont get red (assuming the clear didnt fail). One or two of the pics looked a little like single stage paint, so wasnt sure.

How can you tell if its single stage paint or not?

The pad will always pull paint off.

Clearcoated paint just pulls off clear paint, so you cant see it.

But if the paint is red for instance, the pad would turn red. Or blue on blue paint, etc.
