  • 2008 Black F150 - Thank you Meguiar's!

I'd been wanting to do a good detail on the truck for a while now and finally the planets aligned with the time, space and weather for me to go at it. In fact, I was drinking coffee yesterday morning in the kitchen while looking out the window when in rip off a band-aid fashion, I realized the opportunity was at hand!

Really I'd almost dawdled too long wasting precious shade time. The sun, sensing my impending shade mandatory work, went from coffee commercial peacefully crawling up the heavens to sprinting all out.

I hadn't planned on even taking any pics let alone posting them so I don't have the before shots which is a real shame because I would like some hard evidence of the difference for comparison myself. There was a whole lot of spider-webbing and some scratches.

This is a 2008 vehicle I bought brand new. I've always used Meguiar's products on it. Always by hand though, till yesterday. Yesterday I broke out the cheapy DA I'd bought at Wal-Mart. I tell you what - actually using one even as cheap as that one makes you a believer in DA.

    The steps:

    (Yesterday)
Wash with GC Shampoo and Conditioner.
    SwrilX with DA
Ultimate Liquid Wax - 2 coats with DA

    (Today)
    Ultimate Quick Detailer
    Ultimate Quick Wax

    The results:

    From a little distance

    Center Hood

    Hood Edge

    Left QP

    Pass Door

    Right Side

    Left Side

    Tailgate

I still have work to do (like the awful wheel wells and trim) but yesterday was about 4 hours of work tops. I never could have done all that by hand in 4 hours.

You're right, the planets were aligned just right. I think I see them in some of the reflections. Nicely done!

Nice, black is always worth the extra effort. All my cars are silver, but I got a black on to work on soon. Thanks for the inspiration

                  heh thanks ya'll.

                  I'm such a nOOb. That wasn't a cheapy DA I got. It was just a 6" orbital.

That really makes the whole thing a pretty impressive SwirlX/ULW/UQD/UQW testimonial :p

Now I am bummed out. I just read what orange peel is lol. I've got it. Dang Ford.

Well. At least now I know what that distortion is in some of those reflections. I noticed it and I was wondering what the heck.
