  • Red Celica & NXT

My brother and his wife have just gone on their honeymoon and i thought it would be a nice thought to detail his car while they were away. Hope you find this interesting!

The car is a 2 year old Toyota Celica in single coat non metallic Red. Its used daily but probably only cleaned about every 6 weeks.

Although quite grubby, the red hides the grime well in photos, so i've not uploaded the 'before' images as they dont give a true reflection of the condition of the paintwork.

Heres a list of what I used: (all Meguiars)

    Soft Wash Gel/Soap
    Wash Mitten
Waffle Weave Micro Fibre (still cant get the hang of using this)
    Quick Clay
    ScratchX
ColorX (bought after a visit to the states - n/a in the UK)
    #7 Show Car Glaze
    NXT
    Hot Rims Wheel cleaner
    Hot Tyres Tyre cleaner

Step 1: Wash the Car twice.

Step 2: Clay the whole Car. Although after 2 washes it 'appeared' quite clean, this is what the clay removed just from the bonnet/hood! Everytime I use that clay I wonder how I did without it.

Step 3: Then it was time for the wheels, to give the tyres time to dry before 'treating' them.

Step 4: On with the Colorx and allow to dry, you can see the very thin layer I applied in this picture.

Step 5: There was some minor scratches on the bodywork, these were removed with ScratchX.

Step 6: A coat of Show Car Glaze. I guess this could have been an unnecessary step but I though why not.

Step 7: A very very thin coat of NXT removed with a MF cloth

Step 8: Another very thin coat of NXT 24hrs later

    Step 9. 'Treat' the tyres.

    Step 10 Collapse

Here is the end result - I think is was worth it, and red is a pleasure to work with.
