  • Major Detail on my Vette

Hey there!! Fairly new here, just did a major detail of my car, (first, after attending a clinic at Meguiars) Thank You Mr. Phillips!

D@mn.... this was a lot of work!

    Process was:

    1. All wheels off. Polished the rims with buffing wheels, various sizes with polishing compounds. (Non-coated aluminum) Huge job but finally got a system going to cut the time in half.

    2. Wash with my new Foam Gun and Gold Class soap. The Foam Gun is a new Must Have!!

    3. Clay.

    4. #80 applied with PC and Meg's polishing pad.

    5. NXT x2 applied with PC and Meg's finishing pad. Removed with Meg's MF Bonnet. Great methodology!

    6. Insane Shine on tires.

    7. Drink beer and admire.

Again, thanks Mike for the Clinic & methods.

Your wheels look great. They must've been a pain to do.
Do you plan to top NXT with a Carnauba?
Step #7 is vital. They should start teaching that at detailing classes.

Thanks all..... yes, the wheels are a PITA. But they sure are awesome when clean. The GOOD thing about uncoated aluminum is that you can sand/polish/buff out scratches & small dings.

I plan on a coat of #26 after I wash this afternoon. Did a 200 mile desert/mountain run yesterday and it's covered with bug guts.....

Very nice job, and very nice car!

I love the wheels! The tires also look very nice with the new Insane Shine Tire Spray. I have yet to try it out as it is very cold here still but the results I have seen from it look extremely good.

              Keep up the good work!

Great looking Vette! Can't wait to see the Z06 on the road.

Off-topic question: What type of floor covering/paint/material is that you have?

The flooring is just VCT tiles from Home Depot.... 1' squares glued down to make up 2x2' squares. Here's a shot from a few weeks ago right after I finished laying it.

                            Hi Daboz,

I just love your vette, and the wheels really set it off. Stunning!

Quick question for you. I just called Meguiars here in the UK to get some #26 and told the guy that i was using #7 topped with NXT. He advised me against a top coat of carnuba based wax as it was slightly opaque and would not enhance the NXT finish? Any thoughts anyone?

                            Thanks

                            Rob.
