  • A couple Range Rovers, Yukon, filthy Prius, & a new tool for the winter

    I hope everyone here had a nice Christmas, I spent my holiday mostly working since I have been pretty busy lately. Seems to get a little busier through the holidays.

    Also been playing around with a couple new tools, techniques, marketing tools, etc the last few months to use for next year.

    Heres a nice little hand carry electric pressure washer I picked up for using while working inside during the winter. Its an AR North America Blue Clean 1500 PSI electric pressure washer. It puts out 1.5 GPM, and plugs right into the wall using a 35ft power cord with GFI protection. It comes with a small foaming attachement as well. The hose & gun are of decent quality as well. Its got good cleaning ability & power for how compact it is. Also pretty quiet. I am really liking it so far. Its a nice little unit good for small jobs. I ordered it form Northern Tool, I couldnt find anything I liked locally.

    Here it is in action:

    ==============================================

    2012 Range Rover HSE Sport. Brand new, less than 500 miles.

    I did this one on Christmas Eve. New car/winter prep.

    Wash.
    Lightly clay.
    Opti-Seal.
    Tires dressed with 3D Ultra Thick Protectant.
    Vac/wipedown interior, clean glass & jambs.

    ==============================================

    2011 Range Rover HSE Sport.

    Same thing but a year older and in white, I had already winter prepped it in October but it was filthy & they wanted a cleaning.

    Wash.
    Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax x2.
    Tires dressed with 3D Ultra Thick Protectant.
    Vacumm/wipedown interior, clean glass & jambs.

    ==================================================

    2008 GMC Yukon, already has 100k miles.

    This was an express detail that I completed in 90 minutes.

    Pressure Wash.
    Wash
    Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax x2.
    Tires/wells dressed with Hyper-Dressing 2:1.
    Vacumm/wipedown interior, clean console, glass, & jambs.

    ==============================================

    2010 Toyota Prius.

    I was told by the owners it had never been cleaned right, just touchless washes. It gets driven down dirt roads a lot as the wheel wells were loaded with a lot of crud. The material in the wells is that of truck bedliner material. Which will hold the dirt.

    Wash/Prep:

    Pressure wash.
    Tires/wells & floor mats degreased with 3D Yellow Degreaser 4:1.
    Emblems & jambs cleaned with 3D Orange Degreaser 4:1 & a paintbrush.
    Painted undersides scrubbed with Dawn Power Clean.
    Foamed/Washed with 3D Wash & Wax.
    IronX treatment.
    Clayed with Meguiars blue clay & ONR.

    Before:

    This is what most of the floor looked like after pressure washing underneath, more came after degreasing.

    IronX:

    Interior:

    Vacumm.
    Leather/vinyl cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner & hot water mix.
    Carpets spot treated with 3D Carpet Shampoo.
    Plastic treated with Quik Interior Detailer.
    Glass cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1.
    Jambs washer with ONR.
    Weatherstripping & trim dressed with 3D Trim Care Protectant.
    3D Cherry Air Freshener & Odor Eliminator applied to interior.

    After:

    Exterior:

    Tar treated with Tarminator.
    Sealed with Opti-Seal.
    Tires dressed with 3D Ultra Thick Protectant.
    Wells dressed with Hyper-Dressing 2:1.

    After:

    Now this is what I like to see, one of the overlooked spots sparkling clean.

    As always, great work Nick.

    Happy New Year.

        Nick, the idiom, "idle hands..." will never apply to you. The new h.p. washer looks very transportable, too. I'm sure you made some folks happy this season with your quality work.

            Awesome as usual.

            Question: What sort of 'prep work' (if anything) did you do to your walls, baseboards, floors, etc. in order to wash in the winter? Obviously, it's a "finished" garage so to speak, but did you do any special prep on the walls, floors, or otherwise to minimize/eliminate the effects of water splash/spray and other issues?

            I'd love to wash my vehicles in the garage but am worried about the water (drainage, effects on walls, etc.) (and am not interested in using ONR or other "waterless" wash unless I have to).

              Excellent work, Nick.

              Winter/ Holiday season doesn't seem to slow you down at all.

              The pressure washer looks sweet.

                  Great job Nick. All the vehicles look great. I personally use the AR112 and love it. Compact and ready to go.

                        The floor is epoxy coated and dries very quickly. Any standing water can be easily sweeped out with a pushbroom. Ththe trim is painted and has actually held up to the water quite well.

                        Nothing special done to the walls either, very little direct water gets on it. A light mist shouldnt hurt anything.

                        Thanks. After the winter I plan on purchasing another one. Possibly the commercial unit.
