Had a few days of rain last week that gave me time to get to work on the MGB for my first show of the season.
Details about the detail:
(1) first washed the car carefully with NXT Car Wash, rinsed, and rerinsed with filtered water (I have some nasty water here).
(2) Dusted the car off the next day and started in with a coat of NXT paste applied by hand with the stock applicator, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, then buffed off with an MF cloth. Used the NXT Paste on the stainless-steel luggage rack, mirrors, and wheels too.
(3) Repeated the NXT Paste the next day.
(4) Went over the tires with NXT protectant on a sponge, then wiped them down with a clean cloth to keep the glossy wet look to a minimum.
(5) Used NXT protectant on most of the hoses and plastic parts in the engine compartment, and waxed the painted parts (including the underside of the hood) with NXT liquid
(6) Waxed all the painted areas in the trunk with NXT liquid
(7) While I was working on the interior I pulled the instruments and cleaned the bezels (they're a natural aluminum with painted interior rings) with some metal polish wadding followed by a few wipes of 1000-grit sandpaper and a coat of NXT paste buffed out with an MF cloth. I also removed the glass and cleaned them with... yes you guessed it, NXT and an MF cloth (except the speedometer, I had to make a new piece of acrylic for it and used some old mirror glaze on it).
I will probably try topping the NXT with a wax just to try it, haven't decided yet.
So far I like the paste a lot more than the liquid. Seems easier to keep consistant and thin.
