  • Black 2008 Pontiac G5 GT

I just realised that I never posted this detail I performed in August.
This is a 2008 Pontiac G5 GT with just over 50 000 km. The paint had some heavy swirls, scratches and water spots. Unfortunatly, I did this detail on a cloudy day. I did the exterior only.

    Process :
Wash rims, wells and tires with NXT soap, APC and the front rims needed Wheel Brightener
Wash with Gold Class including door jambs
Clay with Meg's blue clay and Last Touch 1/1 as lub
    Rewash with Gold Class
Dry with an Absorber and a Water Magnet
D300 Correction Compound with a microfiber 5"Correction disc
Ultimate Polish with a white 5,5" LC pad
Gold Class Carnauba Plus on a red 5,5" LC Pad (2x)
Ultimate Quick Wax on the rims and paint as a final wipe
Endurance Tire spray on the tires
    ASD in the wheel wells

    Before :

This very picture shows the bad condition of the paint.

    After:
    Gone !

It turned out great. There were some serious defects in that paint.

          Well done.

Great job on this detail! The black paint was revived and now has a brand new wet and glossy look to it!

D300 with the MF cutting disc really works wonders huh?

Thanks for your comments guys !
Like I said, unfortunatly it was overcast the day of the detail. Not the best for after pictures, but the car sure looked 100x better after I was done.
D300 worked really well, was effective and easy to use.

How many cutting discs did you use? What was the method of cleaning the pads? Were the pads worn out after correcting the whole car? Did they come out looking like new after thorough cleaning?

                Thanks.

Re: Black 2008 Pontiac G5 GT

I used 2 discs. I cleaned the pad using the little brush that ADS gives you in the MF Kit. I don't have access to compressed air while I do my details, so I can't use that method. I believe it was the 3rd car I corrected using both of them. After cleaning, you could see that they were used, but not worned out.

The center of the discs don't get thinner for you?

I will have to take a closer look at them and get back to you. I didn't not touch any of my detailing stuff for more than 1 month. Detailing season is well over for me this year. I did some quick washes on my car and that's it.

                      I still use the 1st version of the Meg's G100 d/a polisher.
