  • VW CC daily driver

Here it is, my first photo post on the MOL forum and hopefully it works.

This is my own daily driver.
I like to look after it.
All work is completed by hand (always).

The marks around the VW badge are actually marks on the wall behind the car

Sometimes I just get all arty with the camera.

The Stores, the Hub, Mission Control, this is where the magic starts from.

      Re: VW CC daily driver

I guess I should have written a process on what I did.

Hosed the car to remove any dust, dirt etc.
      APC+ 4:1 the wheel arches
      APC+ 10:1 the wheels.
      Washed one at a time.

Washed the car using GCW&W using the two bucket method.
      Rinsed as I washed.
Quick detailed the door jambes as I had washed them with APC+ a week ago.
Dried the car using a Water Magnet. I also use AutoGlym synthetic chamois (from the UK). Have used them for years and I feel they just have the edge over the water magnet (sorry).
Clayed the bonnet (hood) and then washed again quickly.
There were a few contaminates on the bonnet. The rest of the car was good.
Polished with Ultimate polish and then two thin coats of Ultimate Wax (including the wheels), leaving time between coats.
Then had to retire for the evening.

      The next day.
My M16 wax arrived (the new pot Kevin Brown, thank you).
Gave the car a thin coat and then waxed the door jambs whilst waiting for wax to dry.
Took the wax off once dry.
Hyper dressed the wheel arch liners then dressed exterior plastics.
Plastic polished the front and rear lamps and B-pillar black gloss trim.
Hoovered the interior and dressed some plastics. I'm not a fan of shiny plastics inside the car.
      Endurance glossed the tyres.

Glass concentrate on the windows inside and out.

One final check and wipe over before taking the photos.

A question I do have that maybe someone can asnwer.
When I next give the car a quick wash over and use Last Touch to get a little gloss in there.
Is the Last Touch better than using Quick wax?

      Thank you.

Both are a favorites among many.

The biggest difference to keep in mind, is Last Touch is a spray detailer while Ultimate Quik Wax is a spray wax with some different properties, so you should probably be using a combo of both at some point.

A great combo is Last Touch for the dust, light dirt and fingerprints as often as needed (even after a wash). Ultimate Quik Wax once a month or so for even more gloss , but more importantly, added protection (including our Hydrophobic Polymer Technology).

I see you are actually pretty familiar with the detailer product line
I would suggest saying in the same family for the cost savings

instead of going with the consumer versions of Ultimate Quik Wax and other spray waxes I would suggest this
Meguiars Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax is formulated utilizing unique Hydrophobic Polymer Technology to produce a durable deep rich gloss with easy application and instant wipe off.

Ultimate Quick Wax=Synthetic X-press spray wax, same product just a different quantity, different price point and a different market
              $10ish for 16oz or $26 for 128oz

I typically use the product in a mist and dry form
              wash car
              rinse
              sheet
              mist with spray wax
go in for a glass of water
              dry with Water Magnet's
but I have found I usually need to buff the paint surface with the spray wax

                Re: VW CC daily driver

I had a bottle of the quick wax from somewhere along the line.
Looking at adding the X-press wax with my next order.
                Thank you for the info.

I have used but never owned Ultimate quik wax
it is too rich for my blood when I can get the same thing by the gallon

the only downfall of the detailer line products is the availabilty for most people and the ease of purchase
luckily I have Detailing.com 10 minutes from the house

Gotta love the iPad showing MOL on the shelf among all the detailing products!

The reflections are indeed awesome, too - that's fantastic work all around, maybe even more so because you do it all by hand.
