  • 2005 red Kia

The owner of this 2005 Kia Spectra5 SX came to me a few day ago asking to have the headlights polished. They were very faded to say the least. Using PlastX and a yellow polishing pad did the trick. He wasn't looking for perfection since he wanted to trade the car soon. Sorry no pictures of the headlights before. When he came back to pick the car, I offered him to wash and wax the car, so he could get a better trade-in value.

So, today I had the Kia back to me for the facelift. The car has 62000 miles only, but was not hand washed since last fall and not waxed since God knows when... The paint was dull and dry with no reflection at all.

    Before :

    Process :
Wash tires, rims ans wheel wells with APC, NXT Soap and Wheel Brightener
Wash body and jambs with Gold Class, NXT sprayed on the front bumper to let the bugs soak
Clay with Ricardo Yellow Clay and Last Touch 1/1 for lube
    Rewash with Gold Class
Dry with an Absorber and a Water Magnet
M105 by hand under the door handles
Polish with Ultimate Polish on a white 5,5" LC pad
Wax with Ultimate Liquid Wax on a red 5,5" LC pad
Ultimate Quick Wax on all side and back windows and rims
    ASD on tires
Vac/dry brush/vac (I did NOT clean the carpet as per customer request)
Vinyl cleaned with warm water and APC+
Rubber mats taken out, then cleaned with APC+ and a brush, then hosed down
Windows cleaned with NXT Glass Cleaner
Vinyl dressed with Quick Interior Detailer

I had a wash horror story "a la SunnyD" the whole time I worked on this car. Thankfully I have a cartop to work under because it rained the whole time I was working on the car. Then the sun came back for the final pictures.

Before and after of the front wheel. Wheel Brightener took care of the caked dust in a second.

    After :

I was still waiting for the rubber mats to dry when I took the pictures.
Remember that I only vacuumed the carpet and not cleaned it per custumer request.

The owner was very pleased with the results and he said they were heading to the dealers tonight to shop for the new car before the Kia gets dirty again ! I hope they will get a higher trade-in value with the work I did on their car.

      The Kia looks great.

Very nicely detailed. It badly needed it.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, it badly needed to be detailed.
It always kinda make me laugh how people just don't care about their car. But the day they want to trade it, now they want it to look its best to get top dollar for it. Then they get a new get and still don't care about it.

I have a swirled black Pontiac to detail this morning. Will do another post on this car tonight or tomorrow. I think I am going to use the DA MF on this car.

It happened to me recently as well: 2000 Ford Mustang Convertible, never detailed, maybe waxed 2 times withing last 11 years. It was sold last weekend after I gave it a DA MF Correction System treatment.

Sweet. DA MF System should save you some time.

This will be the second I am using the complete system on a car. I did a blue Hyundai in June and was pleased with the results at the end. I am sure I will be too after I am done with the Pontiac.

I am glad I decided to use the DA MF system on the black Pontiac today. The car ended looking amazing ! Unfortunatly for some reason all my pictures are not the greatest. I don't know if I still make a post on this car or not.
I used the D300, D301, M7 Show Car Glaze and Gold Class Carnauba Plus Liquid Wax. Very wet and deep look. The D300 took care of all the swirls, lights scratches and water marks. It looked like the car was washed with a brush or something ?

                Looks really nice.

Interior looks good for just vacumming it and wiping it down.
